Hey for all the vista users here I have some questions to ask because I am thinking about buying vista tomorrow when I get my pay check I just want to know what you guys think about it?

First off do you like it?
What do you think about it?
What is the difference between Home/ultimate edition besides the price?

I well most likely add more questions later but thats it for now.

    Thanks.

Now I like it, but the first time I installed it it was like wtf .

It's ok, but if u can keep XP do that, and install vista later .

I don't know the difference but I use Home Premium .

Have you got Vista? I don't really have an opinion right now, as I don't intend to get Vista yet, but most people who complaing about Vista haven't got it. I kind of have tried it, but not really.

I dont since I'm not going to waste my money yet but I know lots of people do and have many problems. For example:

    - Graphic card drivers dont work
    - Sound card drivers dont work
    - Many programs still dont work fully
    - You need atleast 1gb of ram if you want it to work well

These are just some of the problems.

i have a dell inspiron that i bought last august and i recently bought vista ultimate.

It works fine i like it its just you need lots of ram =]
at least 1 gig they say but i would say at least 1.5 gigs.

i havent had a problem with drivers or anything but a lot of ppl say they have problems.

i as far as i know the only difference between home premium and ultimate is that ultimate has bit locker drive encryption that i dont use cause it isnt compatible with my harddrive and i wouldnt use it anyway. and ultimate has the ultimate extras like texas hold em and other cool downloads but they havent had an update since i bought it.

over all i think its a pretty good os with alot of "little things" that i think helps productivity alot like the redesigned start menu and fast navigating through folders.

but im going back to xp for a while because i dont have the money for more ram and i like to run photoshop, dreamweaver, firefox, winamp, aim all at once and they run faster on xp for me.

    whew anyway lol =]

I just got my new computer last Friday with Vista Home Premiuim. There is lots of eye candy with Vista but I disabled all of it. I havent run into any programs not working yet with Vista but I havent reinstalled or tried all my programs yet except PS CS2 with no problems. If you use Opera the windows media player plugin doesnt work unless you use v6.23 or something like that. As stated by the others in this thread it does use more memory than XP. Now one of the big differences I noticed was how many more proccess Vista uses compared to XP. On my XP computer there are 29 proccesses running after I reboot, on my computer with Vista there are 46 processes running after a reboot and I have the same extact setup on both computers not really sure why that is without doing more research at this time. If wanna see the differences on the different Vista versions http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/...ons/choose.mspx

    uhh
    no dumbass.

OEMs use largely the same parts as enthusiast do, just much crappier versions which cost less.

I have vista, and ALL my programs work with it, people who don't have it just hate on it. The OS is really good itself and its selling faster than XP when XP was at this stage. I did have some problems at first but I worked around them.

no, peopel are cashing in their upgrade tickets faster than they did with XP.

regardless Vista si a fairly good OS, most of the issues with vista are

A dumbasses trying to run it with 512mb RAM. I have 4096mb and you should too.
B dumbass 3rd parties being slow with drivers - yes that's you nVidia and Creative.
C the GUI looks like ----. That's OK though since I can revert it back to the nice clean windows 9X look.

    i use Vista
other then some errors in programs i dont really have any problems with Vista
but ya if you get Vista get atleast minimum 1GB ram
if your a gamer i recommend getting 1.5/2GB ram
but once the first service pack for Vista comes out it should work a load better

it doesnt matter i was just saying that cause Red Alert stated how many process he had on xp vs. vista.

no need for porn im not desperate.

and how would it matter starting everything at once? wouldn't you have the same amount of processes just your computer would be slower for a lil while untill the programs startup?
