    take your pick, I'd likely go with he cheaper of the two as it's very very comparable.

    another consideration(not as good of a deal and overall it's slightly slower)

    some games run better on it, some worse usually the games which DO run better don't do so by much and are perfectly fine on the radeons regardless it's still a consideration and the way to go if you're into linux.

    your ram type has no direct relationship with your capacity to run a card

    as for buying RAM.

    online is the way to go. I find online stores charge much less. I've probably made around $2500 worth of purchases at newegg.com and around 700 at a few other sites, never had an issue.

    =======
    unless syou're referring to the RAM on the video card.

    in general GDDR3 is pretty much the fastest.(GDDR4 is overpriced and isn't much faster than gDDR3 at this moment)

    when comparing RAM on a card, check it's clock speed.

    GDDR3 is superior to GDDR2 by quite a while, right? Also, do nVidia cards have better Linux drivers? Sorry for being a hijacker.

    GDDR2 basically sucks.

    nVidia's drivers are far better under linux.
    atleast for 3d stuff, for 2d it doesn't matter all too much.

    in windows ATi has very acceptable drivers though.

    ohh god.

    I'm not even going to comment.

    actually I will.

    Let's just say that a 7600GT is in the neighborhood of being around 10 times as power as a 7100 and that I just replaced my 7600...
