Parts for a friend of mine

    Hi,

    My friend has a budget of €500 for a CPU, Motherboard, Memory and case. No powersupply included. He wants to get the best bang for the buck and will do an average overclock. He really wants to reach 3GHz and with the E6320 CPU He'll needatleast 430mhz for that..

    He already has a 7600GT and will buy R650XT/ dX10 nvidia card later..

    Errr, don't you need either an nVidia chipset or an ATI chipset to choose a video card? Hence if he has a motherboard with nVidia chips, the R650XT won't work with it. If he has a motherboard with ATI chips, the 7600GT won't work with it. If I am wrong, correct me?

    You'r wrong. It will work as long as it's PCI x16. Doesn't matter if the motherboard has a nVidia chipset or ATI chipset.

    no, that would result in greatly reduced market share for those manufacturers AND a lot of antitrust laws.

    so basically it would be stupid or else illegal.


    unelss you mean a chipset as in a collection of units within a GPU. Then yes, a chipset is part of every graphics card in that sense.


    As for the build, looks great. Nice clean and well balanced.
