I'm sorry, but im going to call you out on this. Have you seen what bullet wounds do to a person, especially when your handling automatic gun rounds and shooting in close range? Have you ever harmed a person, and looked into their eyes and felt guilt afterwards? Do you think you could look into the eyes of an individual whom is DYING from something you did to them? Would you be alright with brain mass smeared across the concrete and all over your gear? Could you live with the human scent of not bathing for up to weeks at a time while being overseas in a war setting? Given that Australia is basically the single most nuetral continent in the entire world in that they tend not to get involved with mattes. You have to ask yourself this, with how the whole terrorism has been uprising recently, the chances of you going into war, and seeing the very vaguely description above on atleast a weekly basis, can you live with that? I personally know alot of war veterans, most of which don't even like talking about the war or wars they served in, current or past. I know of people whom have had their leg amputated due to having a hum-v run over a land mine, flip, and land on their kneecap, cutting off their leg and infecting it until medical help could arrive (which was a while, seeing as how they had to survey the land for further land mines). Killing isn't the only concern you should have, you should have the concern about how your life may end in a second if you make 1 slip up and get caught on it.

I know far too many of my friends whom have joined the army, marines, air force, navy, etc. because its 'cool' to blow stuff up. Its cool to handle a weapon, etc. Lemme tell you, when they come back from the war, they do not ever want to speak of the things they have seen, and they do not want to go back and likely wouldn't if it wasn't in their contracts. There is a reason contracts are a part of the military, its not easy, and its not cool, and those who think otherwise are ignorant.

i totally agree with dementia on this one, the horrors of war truely are earth shattering, just another thought, if you became friends with someone in the army, could you stand seeing your friend die right in front of you? i couldnt, i couldnt kill anyone either, i have to much love and respect for life.

i would go with the university course, even though it may be duller.

    I actually agree with Dem

I personally couldn't do it myself for that reason

I couldn't take away a man fighting for his freedom, from his wife, his children, his family, his friends. It would just break me.

Some people feel okay about it, but some just can't handle the guilt.

Single most neutral country my left eye...

We currently have a large portion of our troops stationed in iraq, east timor, papua new guinea, and the solomons.

But as for the guilt etc. Yeah i have seen what bullet wounds can do to people. Hell i have seen what machete wounds can do to someone. I feel no guilt for fighting for the right reasons. And thats why im going for officer not just some grunt.

I understand the implications and the potential consequences.
