Don't worry about the processor, def get a different graphics card, I recommend ATI RADEON 9800 Pro 128mb, bout $210. Processor is good enough to handle those games(JO,BF) I have a 2.1ghz amd athlon w/ a radeon 9800pro I handle BF @ full graphics w/o problems. Just get a new card.
If your games suck with the Radeon 9800 pro, THEN get a new processor.

S1lence you are running games well because you have a processor with good L2 Cache, an AMD.
Look anywhere on the net and they will say get rid of the Celeron, they are cheap processors with 128KB L2 cache which is extremely low, thats why it cant handle games. EM2 I would suggest downloading 3D Mark 2005 and tell us your score you get.

sorry to say it, but not very wise advice. If you DO want to upgrade your graphics card, which you really don't need to play the games you are playing, then the best advice is save up and go for a top end card. The card you have at the mo is medium range, as is the ATI 9800 PRO. For the price you will pay for the 9800, you will really not get any considerable performance increase. If you really must upgrade graphics card, save up and buy an ATI X800 of some sort, or an Nvidia 6800 of some sort. That way it will run new games for a while to come.

The definate problem here is the processor. My reccomendation is to go for the AMD 64 bit 3200+, which is a pretty good chip, or if you can afford it, the 3500+.

I also agree get a new cpu and mobo. The clan that I'm in for RVS, about 10 of us have AMD 64 processors and no problems for any of us gaming from AA, BFV, Halo, CSS etc.. I would also recommend getting nothing lower than a AMD 64 3200+ and would get a MSI K8N Neo Platinum nForce3 mobo they make for both Socket 754 and 939 its an awesome board.

I would still suggest the use of http://www.futuremark.com/download/?3dmark05.shtml

But once you upgrade your processor I recommend you either get a pentium 4 that is compatible with your current motherboard. Or if you get a AMD you need to get a new motherboard, I suggest an ASUS.

Try to get a socket 939 motherboard, and processor if possible. This means in the future you can upgrade to the awesome FX55 one the price drops within your budget.

Is intel the same as AMD, in that they have different types of socket on the mobo for processors? I think they are. If so, then with your current mobo you wont be able to upgrade to a good processor anyway, so you will need a new mobo wether you go for Intel or AMD. AMD is better for gaming, but Intel is better for other sorts of application, like photoshop. What is your budget for a new CPU and Mobo, maybe I can reccomend what to get.

Buying online would be a lot cheaper, and if you get it from the same site shipping would not be that much. If you wanna go with AMD (which by the way will save you some money on intel), then you can buy an Athlon64 3000+ socket 754 for just under £100, or a socket 939 of the same processor for just over £100. They are the same processor, but if you will be looking to upgrade the processor in the future, then socket 939 will offer much better upgradeability for a while. if you have extra cash, a 3200+ can be bought for £20 more than a 3000+, with the same socket options. For the motherboard, you can get a socket 754 Abit KV8 pro for £61, or a socket 939 AV8 for £75. All these prices are from www.aria.co.uk. I hope it helps you on choosing your upgrade.

In comparison, expect to pay at least £20 extra for a chip with the same speed as an AMD chip, but it all depends on the applications you are running. If you want gaming performance, go AMD, or if you do other things like photoshop etc. and can justify the extra cost, go Intel.

    I hope this helps :D
