This is the message I get when trying to open it

Limewire was unable to initialize and start. This is usually due to a firewall program blocking Limewire's access to the internet or loopback connections to the local machines. Please allow limewire access to the internet and restart Limewire.

How do I turn off the firewall to allow limewire to open?

not really. its only warez if you use it to download illegal stuff. I.E music, movies, games.
P2P itself isnt warez, just what its usually used for.

I would help you, but it's probably against the rules.

uninstall limewire. install soulseek. problem solved >.> or even better.. torrents.. i wouldn't put limewire on my computer if my life depended on it.

as for the actual problem, 1. restart your computer, sometimes the port is being used and is causing issues. 2. if you're using a router, port-forward the port so that its not blocked. 3. see before 1.

    Did it run before?
Do you just use windows firewall? As that is a pretty useless firewall that you might as well disable anyway. if you have another firewall like zonealarm you need to edit permissions in it.
