ok, so im making different builds on dell.com and trying to see how i can make my future pc(well now my mom says i have to contribute 500$ since i now work at the local country club) So anyways i notice all the ram is 667 mhz..ok thats cool Then i start looking at the brand new XPS 720H2c(6000 dollars) ok so everythings cool on that until i see RAM..I notice the ram is this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16820145043 not the 667mhz dell ram thats on every other PC. now..im slightly pissed off when i find that the corsair ram is only 200 bucks and that dell is selling me their own off-brand ram for the same price So,my plan is to buy the xps with 1 GB of ram(they wont let u build it without ram) then replace it with the Corsair dominator ram 2gb..because ram is very importent in PC speed...or so i hear....... and I would put the 1gb dell ram into my current PC that has 512mb of ram Is the Corsair Dominator worth 200? or is their another 2gb setup thats better for that same price?
Corsair dominator is the most overrated stuff ever. the high binned stuff is good... it's also $500 the "midend" is $300 and often uses promos. THAT is bull----. to put this into perspective, my kit rated for DDR2-533 can do better than those dominators. Does DDR2-1100 4-4-4 fairly easily. as for Dell h2c ehh overrated POS. the water cooling system isn't much mroe effective than good air cooling(actually some reivews I've read noted it was worse) then tehre's the nVidia 570 chipset. When the 570 chipset was new it's was nVidia's 2nd tiered chipset, the 590 was the good one. Yep, really true. Build your own system and screw dell. Also, try to get if possible Crucial Ballistix Tracer pc2 8500, those sticks are the highest binned by crucial and can do ddr2 1200 cas5 really easy. Cas 4 is also possible at those speeds but with a little more voltage. They are alot cheaper then Corsairs highest stuff.
dell are expensive and horrible to deal with so, just build ur own computer twice as good and cheaper, overclockers is a good place to start
Dont go dell, unless you want your PSU to short and bring your system with it as soon as you put a MX400/Radeon 7000 in it. Simple as that. Build your own, better quality, cheaper.
Ok, so i looked up the Crucial Ballistix Tracer on newegg and most of the reviews sounded pretty promising...i think its my best bet so far.. Any objections? to Crucial Ballistix Tracer 2gb ram?
they'll get you to comparable levels. G. SKill Hz is mostly micron D9GCT whereas the crucial they are linking to is D9GKX(which is binned higher) GCT is fairly decent I have 4Gb worth in my system but it doesn't overclock quite as high as D9GHM and GKX(this being the best of the best in most cases). also, Crucual is a subdivision of Micron. [/quote] define recognize. all 32bit OSes can only natively use at the most 2GB RAM, though through technologies such as PAE(page addressing extensions) more than 2GB RAM can be used by the OS. now, there is a performance hit. Also how much of the 4GB recognize varies. My board when I had 3 sticks in it would allow XP to recognize all 3GB. with 4GB it only recognizes 2GB.
to be honest, chances are you won't. I have 4GB and run xp --- x64. negligible performance difference. Not noticeable not me atleast
Get the tracer for that price, damn that's freaking cheap. How much is the tracer 8500 more then the 8000? 8500 is the top line from crucial with the highest binned D9GMH.
