Hey, i'm making my first computer. I was hopping that you could look over it and see if they are all compadabel with each other and vista. I'm pretty sure they are but it never hurts to have some one else check too.

I'd get a Gigabyte DS4 or ASUS P5ne-SLI board over the one you chose.

then I'd probably drop to a q6600(just overclock the difference, if you're not OCing then ehh not too huge a hit regardless) if you wait until june 22nd the q6600 gets cut to $266

then I'd drop the 8800ultra for TWO 8800GTXes. a Single 8800GTX when moderately OCed(within warranty) is like 99% of the 8800ultra in regards of performance. Even if you don't want to go SLI, spending the extra for the 8800ultra is like spending extra for a lambourghini when you only drive in 25mile an hour zones(and noone gives a dang about bragging rights).

if you do go the SLI route, up the PSU a bit.

    just my opinion.

i recommed that u spend the extra 2 $ for the G15 Keyboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16823126179, i own one, very nice for monitering temps. And for the mouse, i also owned the g5, then i brought a razer and im very happy with it save $15 and get the same stuff differnt brand more built for gaming http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16826153003

i dont know much about ram but if i was wanting to save some money i will by 2 sets of 2GB (2 x 1GB) for $94.99 each

Vista compatible logo is bullcrap. Every PC will run vista nowdaways... you don't need special hardware to be ''vista compatible''..

Depending on your budget i'd get: Asus p5k3 deluxe, q6600, dual 2900xt, 4x1gb crucial ballistix tracer ddr2 pc8500(will do ddr2 1200+ easy) , 1kW enermax galaxy and a nice case you like.. thermalright ultra 120 as HSF. 5x500gb samsung drives, single 74gb for OS and maybe a watercooling setup with custom gpu blocks :> ..

I'll post linky's if you want..

ehh I'd think dual 8800GTS 640s would be better. And cheaper.

    have you HEARD the 2900s?

don't get me wrong ti's still a powerful card just not exactly the one I'd recommend given what it is.

i agree with xelink, dont get dual x2900. get dual 8800gts. also why would he ever need more than 2 terabyte space? 1 or 2 500gb is more than enough.. plus if he ever needs more than that, which i doubt by the time he fills up 1tb, prices will go even lower for 500gb HD's

from what ive heard about the core 2 extreme, the q6600 is a whole lot cheaper and very powerful too. the tests i read (cause ill be getting a new system soon too) stated that the q6600 is mostly just between 10-20 % less powerful but much cheaper (and Intel seems to reduce prices in July which will include the q6600 too for 50 % less than now).

as for the graphics card, a friend just got two 8800 GTX and he says the are faster than anything else on the market. he can play EVERY game with highest settings that are available right now. so i guess it would be a very good choice taking one or two 8800 GTX.

Why not just take an 8800GTX and upgrade when you really need.

nice setup there, but if ur not planning on getting this all at once, or netime soon (its expensive so maybe u need to save up?) wait till end of July and that cpu price will drop in half
