I'm planning on buying a new computer soon and I was wondering what everyone thinks is the best kind to get. btw...I'm looking for something with VERY good performance.
if you have the skill and the know-how usually the ebst computers are the ones you make yourself as A you don't have to pay for a companies advertising indirectly B if something goes wrong you only have to send back one part, nto the whole thing C Cheaper D can be higher quality too E custom suited for your needs and desires. F overclocking for better performance if desired/needed(invalidate the warranty on basically just one part to get up to a 60% boost in CPU performance - that's right, that $70CPU can and will outperform a CPU worth 10 times as much if pushed far enough)
well i'm not really good with the whole build it yourself thing so i was thinking about just buying one
If thats the case, and money isn't an issue, I would look for someone to custom build for you. If you don't trust someone you don't know very well, I've heard CyberPower(http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/) was pretty good. If I'm wrong feel free to correct me.
iF money's not an issues consider Falcon Northwest or Voodoo PC. horrendously overpriced for what you get though. Horrendously... as in a 2k system would go for 6k. If I made in excess of 300k a year I'd likely consider a system from one of them. I still personally promote the DIY route(even if you osmehow ------ up horribly you can still buy the part you f'ed up 10 times over and be money ahead, atleast with this scenario) but to each their own. EDIT: FYI I'm sure that these aren't the BEST, just the best that I can think of at this moment. Again nothing I'd typically buy.
Wow yeah. Falcon Northwest is horribly overpriced. There's no way I'd pay $5000 for a computer I could build for a fraction of the price.
My travel laptop is a Sony Vaio. It does good, it serves me well. So for a notebook a Sony Vaio. If your looking for a desktop. Probably a Macintosh, or DIY.
I wouldn't anything from the same company that designed the PS3... talk about a self interest ploy/design fiasco. ehh I've just been watching sony make an ass of itself a bit too much lately...
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY. WORST. CUSTOMER. SERVICE. EVER. Ordered a computer with an 8800GTX, 4GB ram, 600GB raid-o array, e6700 gaming PC from them about 6 months ago for $2000ish and it currently sits in my moms basement, and hasn't worked for more than 24 hours total (worth of being on). Nothing software, purely hardware. Afer numerous RMAs, etc. its all basically a lost hope for myself. They took well over 1 week to get ahold of without their 'servers being down due to maintenance' (and being asked to call back later, as their servers wouild be online, and no one answering) and over 7 people to talk to just to get an RMA number for 1 part. They then took over a month from recieving the part to even think about shipping it back to me, and they returned the same exact motherboard back to me, not a new one, not fixed, nothing, completely as messed up as it was when I sent it to them, same physical aspects,e tc.
Sounds like some tough luck from you dementia. They dont care about customer service, they already have your 2k pocketed. As for a computer, DIY is the cheapest and the best if you have the knowledge. I bought all my parts for my computer from a direct price store so they were anywhere from 20%-50% off the RRP. Then I just payed the building fee which comes with a warrenty on parts and labour, so if anything goes wrong, I can point the finger at someone else. See my comp in my sig, it runs fast, is reliable and doesnt give me any troubles, except for the DVD drive which was faulty. Thats getting replaced now and I'll have it back Monday [1 working day]. So find the parts you want, get someone you trust, find a cheap direct to the public store or build it yourself, those are the best options.
