I'm a metalhead. I listen to everything from hardcore to rock to death metal to thrash. I think that it actually takes talent to actually play music, not to swear along with a bass track that some guy whipped up over night. I mean, come on. It's plain that even hardcore death metal takes about 170% more talent than rap. Give a monkey a synthesiser and a microphone and he can come up with a Kanye West song.....In metal you actually have to know how to play at least 1 instrument. I mean, come on. Have you ever heard solos and how much skill, practice, and talent they take. I bet anyone here 50 bucks that I could break charts with a rap song written and mixed by me.

The "popular" rock scene has pretty much gone to ---- and I think I'd much rather listen to the top rap tracks over the top metal/rock tracks. Underground though I still love rock =]

I have to go with Rap/Hip Hop, but when I say Rap/Hip Hop I mean Mos Def, 2Pac, Talib, Inmortal, (Old) Wu-Tang Clan, Rakim, KRS-One, etc. Rappers like T.I., 50 Cent (and the whole G-Unit), Young Jeesy, Lil Jon, Mims and all of them wack-ass rappers shouldn't exist.

    Mainstream rap/hip hop is atrocious.

I like 80s gangster rap, but I am a metalhead. There is just something about the speed and ferocity that the guttural growls and incredible guitar playing that hooks me.

And metal isn't something you just get into. As Rob Zombie said, you aren't like "yeah, I was into Slayer this one summer." You're always going to dig metal, and Slayer. Where as mainstream music (which includes this "rap") just comes and goes.

Yeah if your right u just dont become a metal fan, its really gotta be in your blood.

And I agree with krim. The mainstream softcore, emo ----e they keep promoting is just horrid. Idiots who look like they just came out of a queer eye episode from hell, whinging about every little problem in their lives...

Now take Korn for example...Not mainstream...Speak for real about reality, in a more pump up than depressing way. Korn just sets my blood on fire.

Yeah, everyone has their own tastes. Not all metal is about that, some is. A lot of that stuff is in black metal band lyrics. What I can say though. Rap now, isn't about music. It's about making money. Old school rap is the only rap I like. Rap now is just about money, drugs, women, cars, etc. It gets annoying listening to different artists and such and just here pretty much the same thing, except worded differently. The only thing I find cool about rap now is some of the beats are nice.

Some of the old rap was great, had real feeling and emotion to it.

The thing i like best about metal and rock, these guys LIVE for their music. Rappers and such these days only live for the quick buck and the next drug fix.

That's only with some sorts of metal dumbass. Not all metal is like that. Listen to metallica, manowar and some those, they're not like that at all. Don't post stupid ---- unless you know what you're talking about
