I'm just wondering what you guys prefer to learn from. Reading a tutorial, or going over a .psd. I prefer a .psd, its much easier IMO.
I prefer tutorials. I find that I rarely learn anything from .psd's, because I don't know how he/she acheived that effect. However, in tutorials, you go indepth into how to do a certain technique, which you can change to your liking.
If the psd's are extremly well labeled i will use that instead mainly because i don't have to switch from firefox to photoshop.
well i think both have there unique ways, the psds show you how everything falls inplace, how it looks and everything and tutorials seem to teach you how to use the filters, brushes, and colors and such effectivly
It really depends. Some tutorials contain advice and tips that you could not put into a .psd, such as how best to use Grids, and the settings of scatter tools. On the other hand, it is often easier to see EXACTLY what has been done from a .psd I think that neither really is "better" than the other, it depends on how much time people put into labelling and making it clear. Imo, a tut and .psd side by side is the best solution, as long as the effort has been put in.
My exact sentiments. Just like to add that tutorials are generally better for those new at Photoshop as they help to explain the functions of tools available. I remebered I dl-ed a PSD pack when I was just starting out and I had no idea what the creator of the pack did... (Stuff like adjustment layers and clipping masks... didn't know about them when I first started.)
