Are you not seeing that the staff is attempting to turn this site around and go down the path that deviantART is leading to a degree? His point was extremely valid, as have all of his points in topics like this regardless of the topic.

You don't sell your tags for 1.5k or more? That's great, but we aren't saying that everyone is. The point is that a large number of people expect huge profits for their work when it isn't even worth that much at all. When they can't get that, they back out of the deal and refuse to sell unless you want to part ways with a large number of credits. That is one of the reasons that things aren't gaining the type of bids we're used to seeing, we know that the seller will probably pull out when they don't get what they want, so why should we bother wasting time by bidding?

Why, I dont like "DeviantART's" ethics that much. Thats why i don't hang out on "DA" just put up 'art' and leave. I liked the way "Gamerenders" ethics were. I know alot of members agree with me. la. Nooo, "Gamerenders" had to change anyway why because of the people that wanted the old "Gamerenders" back. Why? the way you talk about it I say the old "Gamerenders" sucked.

    Feel free to leave then.

We don't make changes based on 1 small group of peoples opinions, we make changes based on a majorities thoughts.

If you don;t like it, you can leave, no one is forcing you to stay, and just from your posts in this topic I am sure most of the members here won't be missing you.

We are not bringing old GR back, we are simply changing GR for the best. I can't release more information at the time, but further changes may occur.

And, for your information, old GR was possibly one of the best sites on the net. We had people who did better work 2 years ago than your current 'pros' do now, giving out their signatures for free, giving free lessons, free tutorials, free FR signatures to wear across forums, etc. and people weren't money hungry starving credit whores. If you don't agree with that type of environment, then you can leave, as your one of the individuals we are trying to MAKE LEAVE.

Axiom- i dont see why GR has to be morphed into another sites past. Why can't GR run the course of what needs to? It seems that the staff here wants to turn GR into a mini DA. I came here for one reason, and one reason only. To show my work, and after i started doing that i decided to sell it and show people how i do my work.

Through the time ive been here, ive seen a hell of alot of changes. Some for the worse, some for the better. But, in the last month, it seems the staff is trying to get rid of the one thing that makes Gr revolve, which is the marketplace. You take the tutorials out, big deal. Every single person here can give back something, in which many have begun doing.

The market place is falling out of place, because people arent paying to learn anymore. With all the free tutorials, you get to learn styles that people know, without having to do anything but open up and copy what they do. That isnt learning, its copying. Back when we could sell paid tuts, you actually had to invest in learning, like the real world.

No one is buying artwork, which the selling of artwork makes alot of money for members of this site, and the site itself. People buy credits from others, from the bank, and its something that unifies the site. You guys say that your trying to make this site into DA, why not make it into something more like real life. Were stuff isnt free always, and you actually have to do something to learn. For teens, its you get the hell up and go to school, which your parents PAY for. For adults, you get the hell up and go to school, in which YOU pay for.

Basically, my argument is that GR should try to define itself, not follow in anothers path.

I don't think that Staffs are trying to turn GR into a mini DA.
When i said DA ethics, i meant incorporate some of that here, and not just abandon GR ethics altogether.. same GR , but with some DA ethics wouldn't hurt and from there as you said Phenom, GR can/should/will/hopefully better define itself.

GR has been slowing going DOWN in publicity, in status, etc. We get fewer and fewer unique visitors by the day. Since these rules have come into effect, our site has had more publicity and more unique visitors on a daily basis. If your here simply to sell signatures and 'art' then perhaps you should leave. If your here to post, create a learning environment for those who are interested in learning, and discussing art, this is where you should be. As for following another site... do you see people uploading art, tutorials, skins, etc. like the giant resource site like DA? Nope. We are simply creating an atmosphere of giving rather than paying to get anything. Also, please, enlighten me as to how many sites are branched off of GR and are wannabe GRs? Far more than GR has for sites to look up to. This is one of the most active, and largest graphics site on the ENTIRE internet. We have very few people we can look up to, and the one we do happens to be the single most active art site on the entire net, which is also looked up to by every graphics site made in some way, shape and / or form.

I agree with that. I haven't been here long enough to know what the old GR was like but I figure a site like this should be a site for artists to SHARE techniques. Weather that be giving someone free lessons tuts or whatever like dementia said. That is my view of a perfect community. And thats what i think the people running GR are trying to do, make this a community where people SHARE their work and help other people to advance themselves as artists. If I had any say in these kinds of decisions I'd make it so you couldn't sell GR credits for money. I think it just implores people to do whatever they can to make a quick buck online and thats not right in my eyes.

thats just my two cents :]

To those arguing about "people aren't paying to learn anymore"..

well I hate to say that it's quite obvious. I mean, people who owned your .psds have given most away, tutorials on them, etc. And if you can't sell tutorials why not post 'em? I did. *shrug*
The mods are right, IMO. I kind of like it better.. the '---'s aren't controlling the site graphics so much anymore. Before it was --- or nothing and they would just circulate their credits between each other by selling their --- tags and just end up making themselves better at tags in the end. Every so often somebody would buy credits from one of them and then just end up putting it back in the circle of ---s because they'd buy their tags and learn a trick or two.
Now nobody is willing to pay much higher than 1k for a tag. Right now there aren't any tutorials out there by Pale and others who make awesome tags, but eventually people will be less greedy and give them up.

People shouldn't have to pay 2k to learn something. We all agree on that (most of us). I don't have much to add to that one, all the moderators who posted & others said all there needs to be said. :)

Also, tag making isn't college. We get prime education in high school, setting us up for college. LPs are more advanced, templates are made in college, sites. Not tags. Which means why should prices be that high anyways? ^_^

Small Group, I think not. Put up a poll and see. I bet more would vote to have the marketplace back then the new crappy rules.

@domkantthink Don't talk to me about sharing. 90% of everything i bought went back to the people of the site and even stuff i was selling i gave away more then people bought (check some of my other post). Yes that is a good 'Dream' but like i said only a dream i said it be4 you have to have the good with the bad.

"Gamerender's" staff is now turning into 'Politicians'. They are promising a "Perfect Community" but that will never happen. Its a 'Dream' and dreams belong in your head. They say that artist will be sharing and helping each other ,but how do they know that they don't. They say they care about our oppions they don't. More people have been complaining about the rules then there are them praising them. The way they are going the "Gamerenders" that i know and love. The "Gamerenders" many know and love will be gone forever. All because the staff wanted to change a good thing.

@c6x Dew I did post my tuts but now that you can't sell anything how am i going to get more credits? I don't post much because I don't have anything to say. I never once said i was --- or anything close. I never sold anything over 2k , And your one to talk after me buying all those tags off you. I know tag making isnt college ,but the market place helped you learn life lessons like how to control your money and how to buy and sell. Whats good to give out and how to make a living ,even if its with fake money.

btw im on the debate team i can keep this up for hours.

When the day is over, it's up to the creator of the tags/tutorials to decide if they want to share. If they don't, who gives a ------? It's their choice. If you want to learn to make tags like that person, then teach yourself, study their tags if you want and try out different stuff to come out with effects, backgrounds, etc like theirs.Who knows, you might even develop something of your own in the process. they use the same exact program like you do - Photoshop. But about the current rules and all that, I don't have much of a problem with it tbh, just minor things.
