i dont care about the paid tutorials leaving, i never released a tut in my life, because i hate writing them. Why is that when someone is trying to prove a point, instead of being original they pull in another source. Andrew, instead of giving me something that GR is looking towards, you gave me something another site did. Now, why cant GR run the course?

This selling thing is actually one thing that drives me more with graphics

    It's exciting to be honest.

And yeah, I hate the fact that I can't find any Great --- tuts(with the exception of few) in here because paid tuts is gone, though you can find em' on another boards on sale...

I suppose you're not familar with the basic concepts of speech, or debate. In order to make a point, a source or statistic is brought into the speech/debate in order to show you(depending on your side) a positive or negative result. In the case of deviantART, it's been obviously positive.

I've already gone through the up and downs of paid/free tutorials in the Latest News, both as a response to why we did it - and in the download system topic, to explain why we felt it was needed. If you want to be a little smartass, I'll be glad to give you a suspension. I've already stated that the pros/and cons of paid tutorials are not to be discussed in this thread - the topic is GR Recession. I would disagree and say that GR isn't in a recession, it's merely going down to a somewhat managable level. In the past 8 months, signature prices were spinning out of control - now they've dropped and everyone freaks out. It happens in all economies, both the real world and GameRender's.

No, i feel you should be able to argue something without the need to show me another sites success. But, thats just me.

I never wanted to sell my tags for more than 1.5k, and i never have really.

lol this topic reminded me of sumat funny:

SOMEBODY ONCE SOLD A TAG + TUT for 6k LOL.

The serious portion of my post:

These guys are right. 2k for a TAG is ridiculous.

Also, the gr staff has made numerous attempts to stop this from happening:

    Link: http://www.gamerenders.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=289226

    Link: http://www.gamerenders.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=278761

Just so nobody can blame the staff for this.

    Giving back to the community:
Giving back to the community can be as simple as posting outside of the market place, in the general sections of the forum. You guys don't have to give out 500 free lr tuts and psds to give back.

    Sadly the moral:
Don't let greed over come joo.

A extreamly simple solution (it was suggested by Andrew.) LOWER YOU PRICES.

Unserious side note: I love how hard I tried to be extreamly serious and failed >_<.

Also: Don't call me a kiss ass to the staff, you know its true that they attempted to stop this from happening.

almost all of the problems that were stated couldve been solved by simply putting a limit on how much tags/tuts can be sold for (even FR), like a tag cant be sold FR for more than 1.5k or sumthin like that, also by not allowing ppl with under a certain number of posts to sell, like to sell sumthin you would need to have atleast 100 posts, that should eliminate the problem of ppl comin to GR just to get money.
I dunno about the rest of you guyz but credits made gfx more interesting for me, and if the new rules were set up so that ppl would give more to the community dont you think thats its up to us whether or not we want to give out free stuff, its not only about the creds its about releasing sumthin that you created and your proud of for nothing, some ppl dont even bother leavin a comment when you post a tut or anythin else, this tends to drive ppl away from giving away their stuff.
The way i see it the amount of free tuts, psds etc being given out hasnt increased by much after the rules were issued.

You do realize how difficult it would be to enforce that rule, yes? We also have rep limitations, and its ultimately the buyers choice in whom they buy from. We have posted in news topics how to have a safe transaction and to assure yourself in advance you won't be scammed (yet, we still get scams out of our asses).

No, its human nature to be greedy. As long as a means to make money comes from something, and your 'talented' enough to make money doing that something, you will try to make money doing something. People do not give and give and give ever, EVER, without expecting something in return. For the average person, this can just be a simple 'thanks' or 'i learned alot from this' or maybe a small credit donation (5-10 credits), or a rep for the hard work and / or time invested in the tutorial and / or signature.

Countless times I have SOLD a tutorial, and gotten... 5-10 reps from it, as well as about... 10,000 credits. Other times I have GIVEN out a tutorial, gotten no rep, no 'thank yous' or 'this helped me out alot', for far higher quality (imo) work. As mentioned, if there is a way to better benefit yourself, you will take it unless its highly something against your morals (ie, stealing, scamming, illegal activities of other natures, etc.).

We are forcing people now to give tutorials for free. Those who don't want to, are generally going to be the rbeed of people we don't care to have as members at this site. Those that do, show that they care for atleast the members, the newer and older, as well as the site itself in most cases.

thats exactly wut im tryin to say, you are not forcing ppl to give tutorials out for free, your just forcing them to not sell them and in most cases not releasing them at all, as a result there are no more high lvl tuts, and the tuts that are based on great tags dont turn out so good since the tut writer did it for free or for a low amount of creds (cuz its being givin out for free) which makes the quality of the tuts go down.
Even before the rules were issued there were still a lot of generous ppl who gave out free tuts, and every once in a while some one gathers lots of tuts and releases like gurly, kirbir, [.BC.] *..* and many more.
I can honestly say that the best tuts ive read were the ones that i bought in offers and requests, creds can also motivate ppl to do better work especially when it comes to tuts.

I've always found that funny. I have bought quite a few tuts just to have them saved on my computer (I honestly don't look at tuts unless my brain is completely fried), and yet... most of the ones I have boughten, have been the poorer detailed tutorials. The expalantions between steps are like:

ok, use this filter, sharpen it with this tool and wala, done. They never give you settings, or a decent range, they never say how to get to the tool for new people to photoshop, etc.

Frankly, if your good enough that you don't learn anything but from the '---' (stop evading the filter, its there for a reason and we have warned/suspended people for doing so, thank you) tutorials, you shouldn't need tutorials to learn. Tutorials are meant to be a stepping stone to help those unfamiliar with the program learn more about the program. Tutorials are rarely going to be about doing a digital painting that looks like... the mona lisa or something. '---' tutorials are not what is needed, basics and understanding photoshop is. You can do this with a sig like mine (which is about 5 minutes of work), or a sig like Atreyu's old work, or the mona lisa, etc. There are techniques to be learned in everything, the soul reason tutorials are even rated is because of the outcome, which is quite stupid IMO because it would be like purchasing a book because of its cover. You can use the same techniques, and make the sig look horrid, and still learn something, or you can view eye candy.

ya ofcourse there are ppl who write crappy tuts there is no sure way to avoid that, and ofcourse tuts are rated by their outcome (atleast at first) wut do u expect, if i see a tut with an outcome that i dont like do u expect me to say "hey i should check it out it might have something usefull in it" even if the tuts are free if the outcome isnt good ppl wont bother reading it.
and do you mean to tell me that if i paid a person to write me a tut, the tutorial would be the same quality if he wrote it for me for free? dont forget that tuts take a long time to write.

Just wanna comment on this, Iv given out free tuts and sold tuts ,aswell as other things. I see 400+ people looking at the topic and still only "3" comment this makes me feel bad , but when im selling its much easier. I make "alittle" not alot of credits. I got thank yous and +reps, now am i greedy? Whilel selling tuts ,you can ask most people that bought from me, on a number of sites just mention ".lol's TuT shop" and they will tell you. I normaly added more then 1 tut. They bought 1 tut i added 3 more just to be nice, so ill ask again am i greedy? or do i just want to make "alittle" credits while helping people out? hmmm

Troubling you try to get rid of the bad greedy sellers, but what about the sellers that needed credits to make more stuff to sell/give out like me?
