Would it be possible to add some shortcuts uch as Deviant art, Facebook, myspace and so on?

We already have AIM, MSN and YAhoo and so on, I just think it would be nice to have this available in our profile, instead of having to add it to our sig space manually.

    Thanks in advance!

Would you really want to add some of your e-friends on websites such as Facebook?
Your school information, real name, friends, etc will be exposed to 1000's of users on the internet - does that seem safe? (That is merely my opinion though. I just don't see why people would want this implemented.) However, I like the idea of adding the 'Deviant art' shortcut to profiles - as it does relate somewhat to Gamerenders, while being safe as well, for the most part.

Even though it is an option for users to post this information, a majority of the members on this site are roughly 13-14 years old, and not a lot of them are fully aware of the consequences of posting your Facebook account or other forms of social websites on the internet. I am not a fanatic of Facebook, so I do not know too much about the site, but based on the information I do know, the information revealed on that site can be dangerous to members on this site.
Also, there have been reports of threats arising from Facebook since some students do not see how adding random people to sites such as this one can be dangerous. (Unlike MSN, sites such as Facebook expose information from the moment you add a friend.)

Other than the safety, I do not feel there is much demand to add these other shortcuts, other than Deviant art. I suppose I will wait to see what other users feel about the topic. :)

It's always optional. Just like publicizing your MSN, it's a risk, but you don't have to add it.

Yeah I like the DA, the rest is un-needed imo :) But DA would be useful as a lot of people put that in sigs anyway.

Hmm...come to think of it, a PB link would be good too.

Could we not have some additional fields called 'Other link 1' etc.. ? Or maybe, there is a mod to allow users to have ONE customisable profile field configured through UCP. So you could either have 'DA' or 'Facebook' etc.

I like the idea of including a deviantART link in your profile. I'll look into getting this setup. (not hard - just a matter of being online at the same time w/ logicaly)

Yes it is very do-able and quite a simple mod. As Andrew already stated, it just depends on the Admins views.

Only thing I can think of that might make the admins say no, is the amount of data having to be stored on this site..
theres alot of members..and alot of data. Dunno, I have never run a site/forum b4, but thats the only reason I can think that they would say no to this ??

The DA option will be included in the profiles as soon as I have a chance to get together with Andrew so he can help me set it up.

The other ones arent needed on this site.
