Hi guys, I'm posting with concern for the GR economy. Lately I have noticed that it is near impossible to sell anything. I know for a fact that I am not the only one experiencing this either. I've noticed that auction threads are almost 100% bump posts, offer+request threads are empty, and shops are dead. I am wondering how we can solve this because at the moment nothing sells. I don't know if it is because people don't buy tags because they can't write a tut and resell, if they can't find anything worth buying, or what it is. But I think we need to do something.

What can we do? This just meens people don't like buying tags or wearing tags that other people made. These days the free tuts and so on are teaching people and there for they don't need to buy any sigs and/or tutorials.

Meh, same thing. I don't sell any of the current tags I make since tutorials can't be sold. Kinda funny how since they can't be sold theres hardly any advanced tutorials, only a few. But, the recent rule about tutorials is making the auction room even less active than it already was. But the up side is that some are giving away advanced looking tags for LR

Yup I own about like 15 sigs and tuts for FR, that just sit on my computer, that are all some of the best on GR right now, but people dont buy.

I used to be able to sell them for 2000 in under 2 hours. Now they sit for days on end with the highest bid being like 400. Like im gonna undersell for that much.

Maybe sometime this week, ill try again, and maybe someobdy will pay me wat they're worth.

Okay, with that said, your credit-hungry. Why don't you just release them to help out the graphically challenged. It's not like you can do much with the tutorials, just post them. If you came here just to buy/sell to make money, what good does that do the community?
Anyhow, the GR economy is in a recession, it happens. Do you know how this happens? People come here from NSL and other sites to sell their tags, get a couple thousand credits, and sell the credits to for money and leave. Therefore, making people with paypal accounts to have a high number of credits. The people with the high number of credits then keep the credits, hoping good deals come around so they make a profit. Thats when the circle starts again, people from NSL come. Eventually, they'll be about 30-35 people regulating the GR credit issue.
As for the auction section, my input on that would be if you set a Start, that usually means that thats the least you'll take for your item/good.

For once, I agree with him. Your the type of person we are dilebrately TRYING to get rid of, you do nothing outside things that you personally benefit from, nothing for the community. I have been here pretty much since GR first came around on the old PHPBB boards, and there was a time when artists BETTER than yourself now, then, were selling their signatures for 200 FR, not 2000. This is part of the reason we released free tutorials, we knew that people would eventually shift back to HELPING the community, and not THEMSELVES. If you don't agree with how the GR economy is Lennox, please go back to NSL and convince them to have a selling spot (if they don't already, I wouldn't know, I just have an account there and haven't visited since the day I made it).

Learn to HELP the COMMUNITY, and not YOURSELF.

 Couldn't have said it better myself.

As for the "recession," it's just a cycle running it's course. I knew this would happen at first when the tutorial rule came out, but in time things will pick up. We need to get rid of the people with the mentality like Lennox or at least wait for them to come around and realize that there are better things to do than stockpile their credits.

Yeah, I don't want to give the impression that I am a credit whore either, I just seek credits to buy new things... I spent about 15k on new tags in about a week, all of which I am going to be releasing in a pack. I am just wondering how you guys think we can solve it, but it seems you feel time will do it. I hope so :)

Then why not take the marketplace out completely?

Because plenty of services are sold regularly, for decent prices. People have just gotten into the idea that their piss is gold, and they deserve platinum for online pixel work.

Wh can't we all just design.
All this selling is a bonus.
We need to go back to our initial roots.

honestly, the "credit hungry" people are really the ones helping out if you havent noticed. Call me credit hungry, i dont care, but i sell more stuff and do more lessons on this site than anyone i know. And most of it, is resold after the person learns, or given FOR FREE. So basically, us credit whores are making the economy spin.

Hmm I know I'm going to be called one of the credit whores, but i mean who here other then a admin/mod doesn't want credits?

I can actually personally say just about half of my creds have been for competitions. I've also given out and bought things for members, but what I sorta feel sad/but am guilty of to, is that the only way these new resources are being brought and given out is from Kirbir and her competition.

I want GR to be a place to come and learn, but not many people are as nice as Kirbir and the others who give out free things.

It is quite funny you bring this up, as I have seen about 2 or 3 of these threads in Gamerenders in the last couple of months, so I am pretty sure the staff and members of Gamerenders are completely well aware of the problem.

Not sure if you study business, but the concept is very simple. In every business (In this case, Gamerenders) encounters different periods of prosperity. There are times when things are starting to boom, when things are at its peak, and when there is a depression - it is called the business cycle. All sites encounter this, the only solution is to wait it off.

I've noticed that the staff on this site are not too worried about this problem, rather, they want to eliminate the "bad bugs" from this site to revive the community that Gamerenders once had in its early years of development. (A community where everybody wanted to help one another for FREE.) I suppose by implementing these new rules, which make it more difficult for people to "mooch" off of the site, that the members who visit this site to make money will leave, thus only leaving all the members that contribute to the community. Members who contribute to the community of the site = The old Gamerenders.

However, I have to agree with you in some way. It is very difficult to sell this in the auction room, and the price of tags has deflated a tad bit - I have noticed it myself. But most of you need to remember that when Gamerenders first appeared, the site was not based on selling your tags. In fact, most artists gave away their tags for free because they felt their name and respect was all they needed as payment - obviously this has changed. I remember when I first came to this site, all I used to purchase was either learning rights or wearing rights, I couldn't even remember using the term "full rights" till about a year after I joined this site!

Also, I believe credits have increased in value - which might be the root problem of why people are not too interested in spending credits on tags. Tags aren't a good investment, why spend credits on them? A while ago, credits were selling for pretty cheap, and that was when people were able to sell tags for 1500-2000 credits. It is all supply and demand, nobody can control it, and there is nothing nobody can do to "cure" Gamerender's recession since the only way to cure a recession is to wait it off. Or if you guys study history, many politicians, I cannot recall names, used to "pump" a huge amount of money into their economy. By doing this, things would start rolling again - people would start buying/selling. However, the government would go into debt and they would get back their money little by little as the economy picks up. But somebody would need to spend a HUGE amount of credits, make the site go in debt, and than pay off the debt when the economy picks up again for this idea to work. (Which obviously will not happen, therefore, just wait it off... don't see how this should be a topic, it seems to be resolved in my point of view.)

There are certain aspects that are welcome, such as teaching another member, and them handing the resources out, etc. that is fine. Expecting 2000 credits ($10) for a small canvas of pixels on the net, is not my id of 'alright'. If you want to make money off of your digital art, there are PLENTY of sites where you can do so (ie, my templates sell for hundreds).
Matter of fact, I have donated over 25,000 credits in bulk. 10,000 to GR mafia, and the other 15,000 across paying for others paid tutorials they wanted, or giving them credits for a signature they wanted FR, etc. I truly have no need or desire to bulk up on credits. I was a member for a LONG time on the site, and I have donated the same as staff as I did as a member. This site should be about learning, not having to fork up $$ for learing something (unless its on a 1 on 1 basis, like MSN lessons or sometimes).
