Lately, I have been reforming my caffeine consumption habits by cutting out about 80% of the usual amount of sodas I drink and sticking to only diet Monster. However, I keep getting beef from my folks about how they aren't healthy for you and not, and I digress. I think that - yes - they are bad, but besides high levels of caffeine, what harm does diet Monster have? So, as an extreme measure, I am looking into the best alternative for me (and other caffeine addicts) to get off energy drinks. Besides sleep (being the most obvious alternative for energy), what are some healthy resources for that extra energy I need to get through the day?

EDIT: I did a little bit of research and found that chai/black tea is an excellent alternative in amounts of caffeine. It's a bit strong/bitter, but it tastes great with a splash of milk.

I'd love to see the answer for this, too.

I'm addicted to Pepsi, coffee, energy drinks like Joker, Rockstar, etc,.

I heard Monster has nothing on Red Bull in terms of caffine supplements. Rabid fan of Red Bull here; but lemme say I accidently drunk a Red Bull at 8pm and didn't wink a blink of sleep until 5pm the next day...
This is the exact reason why your parents are giving you beef because of that otherwise harmless experience

I don't know if it does anyone good, but I drank an Ensure in the morning when I can't get my hands on a Red Bull. Or blend some fruit with orange juice, the coldness and sugar usually gets me going.

I'm addicted to Pepsi, Dr. Pepper, Peach Snapple, Bawls etc.

A really, they are fine for you. As long as you USE that extra energy you're getting, and burn off those extra sugars and stuff. Really, I SHOULD be fat, but I'm not fat, and I drink about 8-9 Pepsi (cans) a day, in addition to whatever I drink at school, which is generally 3 bottles of Dr. Pepper.

I hate Energy drinks, simply cause I hate the taste of them. There really isn't a "healthy alternative" to caffeine. If you want that extra energy, then sleep. But I strongly suggest to wiene (sp?) yourself off of Energy drinks. If you are as addicted to caffeine as I am, then it will prolly take as long as a chain smoker to quit cigarette's. Just drink your usually amount at the moment, then every 3 days or so, just remove one drink from your day. Within a month, you'll have it gone.

However, I am going to not give into peer pressure, and I am going to keep doing what I love, drinking my soda :)

Wow, stop drinking so much pop squireel. Thats terrible for your health, unless every minute your not in school your playing sports.

I dont even drink pop on weekdays. Just weekends. Just have a cup of tea or coffee in the morning and get more sleep

I go through a bit of coffee in the morning, two cups at most. I drink either bottled iced tea (Lipton, Nestea etc.) or water through the day. Rarely do I drink soda; I go through maybe ten full glasses of water a day, however. I have no trouble staying awake. A decent sleep schedule (6-9 hours/night) helps a lot.

And to whoever said that energy drinks don't taste good: bull----. Red Bull is pretty damn good.

I'll make my point a bit clearer this time:
It was bitter and smelled quite bad.
