Well let me just start off by saying im not a computer wiz or anything. i dont know much about the insides of computers really, ive only cracked it open twice to install a ram stick and a new card. Well the card i have is a piece of crap its a nvidia GeForce MX 4000 and i really cant run any good games (hero online, city of heros) etc. anyways im only 13 so i have no cash to my name and getting a new card is out of the question. so what im asking is there like someway to boost the preformance of this crappy card? or am i stuck with bad graphics forever? <_<
    System specs:
    Xp home edition SP 2
    intel celeron 2.60 GHZ processor
Nvidia Geforce MX 4000 128 MB memory
510 MB ram (was 512 but dropped to 510 for some reason)

    thanks everyone!

you need more RAM(1GB would probably be plenty only around 30$ for a 512mb stick) and a new card.

do you have an AGP port?

and when you say no money, give a budget. if your budget is 5$ you're out of luck if it's $100 we can check around, if it's $50 we still might be able to find a thing or two.

That's not too bad of a setup....Take your PC somewhere to get it optimized, some places do it free, and some for cheap. If you're not looking to spend a dime, sell you're PC to someone stupid for a rip-off price and buy a better one.

what do you mean by optimized?
if you mean a fresh install of winblows, that won't really do a ton.

and that card is weak for the games he mentioned. It's hardware, not software.

optamized as in have them change the settings around. I could tell you everything they'ed do, but I'd be here typing for hours. Basicly, they'll adjust your page file, change ur display settings, change some registry keys, etc....nothing I'd advise you to do on your own.

    no.
there are multiple varieties of 7300 GTs, and some fo them actually have chipset diferences(the 7300GT uses the 7600 GS/GT chipset for example)
the highest of the 7300s(7300GT) go for around 60$
also, they don't exist on the AGP interface.

    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130026

PCI-e only, the GeForce 7 series chipset was designed around the PCI-e interface as legacy parallel conections(PATA, SCSI[traditional] PS/2, AGP, PCI) are being dropped in favor of serial conections(SATA, SAS, USB, PCI-e)

again i need to know if you have an AGP port so i can make a suggestion.

i'd highly doubt that unless you have multiple chipsets on your motherbaord(it's a physical limitation of AGP, basically no more than 1 per chipset)

you sure you're nto referring to PCI-e

what is your card plugged into? is the slot seemingly augmented form the others(AGP ports are usually brown or perhaps orange, PCI are usually white)

    AGp is compeltely diferent...

    brown slot in here
    http://www.si87.com/Products/Videocards/ag...-pci-or-isa.jpg

    with card...

to be honest, I don't even know what one would call the memory module slots(or at the least it escapes me it's nearly 2AM here) I typically refer to them as DIMM slots though...

    try this
    http://www.cpuid.com/download/cpu-z-140.zip
DL it run it then check on interface. should show either noting(most likely PCI or integrated) AGP or PCI-e

You can still have 2 AGP slots, My friend has a motherboard with 1 AGP and 1 PCI-e port, So i reckon its possbile. But as for the gfx card, if your using AGP then 6800gt would be enough to play the games mentioned and still is an ok card. I managed to get an OEM one for 40 quid (about $80) just as it didnt have the driver disk, Drivers are free from Nvidia.com anyway
