Well today I purchased a copy of Battlefield 2 and went home and installed it on my computer. When I tried to run it, it opened the loading screen then the screen went black and my computer restarted. I tried it three more times but I had the same result. I then reinstalled it and it still does the same thing. I downloaded the patch and installed that and it still does the same thing. I also have the latest DirectX and graphics drivers.

Any ideas why this wont work?

I have 2 GB of RAM and a 7600GT so i guarantee you that its not because of my PC not meeting the requirements.

I had this problem when I updated my monitor drivers.

It's when battlefield 2 does not like your refresh rate.

My pc never restarted it just went to the desktop

    but you can do

    my documents\Battlefield 2\profiles\Default\Video.con file

open with notepad and you will something like this

    VideoSettings.setResolution 1280x1024@72Hz

set it to whatever your current monitor settings are

then go to Program files\EA GAMES
    Battlefiled 2\mods\bf2\settings\VideoDefault.con

    open with notepad and set

    renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 0 to

    renderer.allowAllRefreshRates 1

also make sure there is no folders here if theres is delete them

    my doucments\Battlefield 2\mods
    bf2\cache

    download refresh force

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=1847

and use it to get your right refresh rate.......

    tell me if this works

(thx for quoting me xelink you can put my name there)

Well I have a 300W power supply so that might be the problem.... On Monday I will probably go and get a 500W one and I will see if that fixes the problem.

I'm surprised you haven't already had problems with such a small power supply.

quality>quantity w/ PSUs, remember that. Some bargain brand PSU which is rated 500W might seem like a good deal, but a very high quality 350W PSU very well might do better.

    what's your hardware setup?

it's not ur power...don't worry...im guessing you have a case w/ 2 side vents and only 1 fan? (which is standard) If that's the case...well...that's not going to keep ur stuff on the inside cool. Even though u have high-end stuff, if it melts, it's no good. I had the same issue not to long ago...I had a nvidia 8800 n' I couldn't play anything from NeverWinter Nights to WoW. It turned out that once your card over heats, the driver that "talks to" the fan control on the card stops responding (which is why the screen goes black) The solution would be to uninstall the drivers so your computer stops locking up, but then without display drivers, you have no display at all. Basicly, your card is dead unless it's running in a refrigerator(which is an option) I advise you to maybe take a card from another PC you have, put it in your machine and test it. If it works, I'm right, and you need a new card, if it's still no go, you got me. Some computer repair shops can test cards for you if you dont have a spare.

I don't think it's my card, because I still play DODS and whatnot.
