Okay. So, this morning, I turn on my computer. Everything is fine, except my internet is broken, even though another computer (the one im using right now) is working fine, even though they're both on the same network.

Then, I plug my 8 gig iPod Nano in to charge, and I leave to go to school.

6 hours later, I arrive home. I find my iPod completely frozen. The backlight is on, even though it should be off after 2 seconds, none of the buttons work, and its not on lock.

I take a look at my computer. The internet is still dead, so I restart my computer, which also installs "important updates".

Now, it gets to the Dell screen, finishes loading, and goes black. Nothing at all. No error code, nothing.

For three seconds, I saw the welcome screen pop up, turn from blue to red to dark blue, and then the moniter went black again.

So my computer AND my iPod are both dead.

Any who helps will get my eternal gratitude and luv.

    So please help. D:

Oh, and I forgot to mention my computer is a Dell Dimension 5150, with Windows XP.

I can't get tech support 'cause my warranty expired. x_x

    But...why?

I didn't go to any websites in the last few days besides GR and google.
My hard drive wouldn't just randomly crash, would it?
The only thing I'm suspecting is the update, but my iPod froze before my computer got updated.

hmm he said hes on a new comp, if it blanks to a blue screen thats what happened when my hd/windows failed.
uhh if your on a laptop give it a static discharge to see if it helps, take out battery and power cord and hold on the on button for about 10-15 seconds, re put in battery and turn on.

Actually, this computer is over a year old, thats why I can't get support.

Its not a BSOD, its actually the welcome screen normally, just in a more saturated version.
    And its a desktop.

I'm not that concerned about the comp, as a quick trip to the repair shop should fix it, but whats wrong with my iPod?

you can restart ipods by holding the middle button and either menu or the play/pause button for a few seconds

    bad PSU/motherboard.

if it managed to fry your ipod it's likely due to shoddy power regulation.

a bad PSU can damage your board.

another possibility is that your network is dead on just that segment(try another system in it's place) or that the drivers somehow got corrupted(or some other similar windows service) and the iPod just died on it's own.

leave both off for a while. let the iPod discharge and recharge it in another system. Do a CMOS clear on the dell and see if reinstalling drivers does anything. if not try a new windows install. If all else fails never buy from Dell again(they have the highest hardware failure rate in the industry 10% of their units fail within one year.)

The iPod won't even turn off. Its completely unresponsive. I can't turn it off, or anything.

Now the Dell Boot screen won't even appear.

Lol. The real answer was much more un-dramatic than what we were thinking.

One of the plugs in the moniter got unplugged.

    ._.

The iPod, however, is still dead. I'm gonna go to the Apple Store near me and ask for a refund, since it hasn't been 90 days yet.

Thanks for the help everyone =]

the battery will eventually run out of charge and you should be able to get it working again.
