    Just think about it.
    What would it be like?
Wars have been fought over someone/somthing that nobody has proof in, although people give their life for some "Higher Being" that may or may not exist.
I'm not just talking about one religion, but all religions believe in some higher being, except a few.
So what do you think? Would it affect global relations, economy, etc.?

He doesn't exist. God is just a famous character from a famous book. Think of it like this, Star Wars fans like to dress up and act like its real, the bible got so popular people wanted to dress up and take it to the extreme!

On topic, people would go insane. Honestly, they'd have so much disbelief and do nothing but go into total rampage.

it would be EXACTLY how life is now.

People would make up bull---- stories like some guy putting every animal in the world (2 from each species) on a boat for 40 days and 40 nights and they all lived in harmony. and some guy would think he is a god so he kills himself on a T.

Yeah... some crazy indian kid would meditate for 40 years.

Although i don't completely agree with some things in that post, it gives the basic idea of what would happen if god didn't exsist

i think that if there was SOLID evidence god didn't exist... that the religions would just make up more elaborate stories to keep their followers.. They already have done it MANY times, everytime there is some question posed about the bible or w/e they get HIGHLY defensive and make ---- up about why it is the way it is.

I honestly could care less though, i believe that religion is no longer a form of belief rather than a way of life. Most of the people i know are being FORCED to believe in a religion by family (being raised with strict christian rules for example) instead of having the ability to rationalize things and make their own decision... in my mind that they aren't believers, more or less they are just followers.

People like the above wouldn't be posting, or, if they still did, their posts would slip to the "why in the hell did they take away the (-)rep in General Discussion" level. Those "inner purity" meditation businesses would profit hugely. Or, depending on your belief system, we woudn't be talking here.

I think god doesn't exist. I doubt he does. Could it be possible that all religeons could've started from a fictional book, and a fanatic just decided to start a cult and spread it's information?

I agree with the post that says it'd be just like we living now.

i don't think that's why religion started... i'm taking an anthropology class and well early human beings developed the spirtual life. The more intelligent we became they more curious we became... which eventually lead to the ineivitable conclusion that a 'higher being' must have created us in order for our world on the greater scale to fit our 'smaller scale' pattern.

you should rephrase the question to:
What if... people never knew about / believed in "god"

I think there would be some major changes, aswell positive as negative. The whole history would've been different if nobody worshipped a god. I think space-exploration would've been much more advanced then it is now, because in history thinking that we werent alone was blasphemy, so a lot of people gave up research. Also a lot of wars wouldn't have occured if there was no religion. But, things as hospitals and healthcare would also be different, because the first organized healthcare was organized by the church.

I think a lot of things would be different, but we wouldn't be more or less evolved. Our knowledge about earth and everything else in space would be greater, and our knowledge about healthcare would be different.
