I have this cd that has some VERY importand files, and its not recognized by windows because of a little scratch next to the hole in the middle. So is there anything that wll let me get the data out of the cd, doesnt matter if its 3/4's or 1/2 of the data..

if windows doesnt recognize the CD, i cant think of anyway that you would be able to retrive data.

try knoppix, a cd-bootable Linux OS. it might be able to read it.

the most reliable way to do it if it's scratch is rather expensive.

basically a an "image" is taken of the disk and then converted into data

fix the scratch first then try to use the disc

i cant do the image right? or i can using like ultraiso or something, and i would get the disk fixed if i could, but i cant... data on it too ... private. Also its not exacly a scratch, more like a tiny crack that doesnt go thru to the other side of the disk..like a inch big, i had some like it on other disks but the disks worked.. unlike this one

this private "data" isn't porn right? or is it lol? so basically this "scratch extends to the middle of the disc right? since you did say it was 1 inch. If so then i would say your up sh!t creek without a paddle.

Use alcohol to clean the disc and then try again.

um porn? maybe.. lmao just kidding its some text info that i need to see because i didnt see! this is like mission impossible...

its like a deep deep scratch but only 1 inch long and going from the middle of the disk which starts from the circle straight down to the mid.

Well like they said u can either use a Scratch Repairer or if u have a Dual CD/DVD burner then u can put the cd in the top one. THen put a blank one on the bottom and see if that will help.
