why that, it's the freedom of speech and the freedom to believe, I also do not believe that jesus existed, and even if he did, I don't believe that he would have been the son of god, because I do not believe in god.
I don't have any reason to believe in god, people believe to find an answer to questions we can't answer yet, just like they did in the middle-ages.

    anyway, the guy's obviously a fraud <_<

yes i know, but some religious people think otherwise, they wanted to save me from something i don't believe in.. so i made the example to terrorism and that's where the flaming started.

How ignorant of history must you be to say that Jesus didn't wasn't real? Of course he was real... ask any historian whether he was real or not and
they'll tell you that he did live in the first century A.D. The only question about him is whether he is or is not the Son of God, not whether or not he was real >.>

This could be a valid argument, however before we go proclaiming that he was just a nutcase, lets unpack that a bit. Jesus' claims of being the Son of God means one of three things: Either Jesus was crazy, he was a liar, or he truly was the Son of God. If you think about it, you'll probably realize those are the only three choices. Now I don't know how much you've researched the life of Jesus, but he certainly didn't show any signs of mental instability, setting aside the claims of being God. For some, that may be enough reason to claim he was crazy, but it seems unlikely that insanity wouldn't show itself in other ways, doesn't it?

The second option is that perhaps Jesus was just a liar looking for attention. And lets face it: proclaiming to be God gets you a LOT of attention (just look at this topic xD). To me, this option seems a bit less likely than the previous, for a couple reasons. Firstly, if he were a liar, you can bet he would be more than happy to accept money and favors from his followers. However, the opposite seems to be the case. He had no real possessions of his own, preached about the dangers of materialism, constantly gave to those less fortunate than he. These don't seem like character traits of a habitual liar. However, this argument really isn't that strong. He could have hidden his possessions, or given them away as a part of the lie. The one thing that made me believe that Jesus wasn't just a liar, was his death. Whether you believe he was divine or not, you can't deny that Jesus did die by crucifixion on a Roman cross. In the history of mankind, a more painful and torturous death hasn't been developed. IF he truly was a liar, there is NO WAY he would purposely and willingly go to his death in such a manner. A liar, in it for the fame or money, simply wouldn't kill themselves like that. This really leaves only the first or last choice: Either Jesus was crazy (hence believing that he really was God), or he actually was God incarnate.

Whichever of those three options you believe is your choice alone, not mine. I am simply trying to look at this logically, to defend against ignorant posts such as the first one I've quoted. The second quote was someone's opinion, which is fine. As long as there's thought behind it, I don't care which position you choose.

If I forgot an option, or you know something that I don't, please let me know through pm or just by posting it here.
