I've never had any problems with Internet Explorer. I've been using it. How long have you been running Vista? Make sure you have all the updates and check the error logs. In Vista it's Start, or globe which ever you prefer to call it. Control Panel > admin tools > Event Viewer >
    Application and Services Log.

as with most IE problems I seem to get re-registering the dlls always help, works with xp so should with vista (i take no responsibility if it has a adverse effect though, just in case =/ )

    open notepad
    paste in this code
    Code:
    echo DLL re-register
echo do not close this window untill all files are re-registered
    echo starting...
    regsvr32 /s Actprxy.dll
    echo registered actprxy.dll
    regsvr32 /s Browseui.dll
    echo registered browseui.dll
    regsvr32 /s Jscript.dll
    echo registered jscript.dll
    regsvr32 /s Mshtml.dll
    echo registered mshtml.dll
    regsvr32 /s Msjava.dll
    echo registered msjava.dll
    regsvr32 /s Msxml.dll
    echo registered msxml.dll
    regsvr32 /s scrrun.dll
    echo registered scrrun.dll
    regsvr32 /s Shdocvw.dll
    echo registered shdocvw.dll
    regsvr32 /s oleaut32.dll
    echo registered oleaut32.dll
    regsvr32 /s URLMON.dll
    echo registered URLMON.dll
    regsvr32 /s Vbscript.dll
    echo registered vbscript.dll
    echo all dlls re-registered!

save it as "register.bat" (with the " marks)
    the let it run completely

Thats rather odd....I have yet to have any problems running IE on Vista Ultimate.

It might be worth redownloading and installing from Windows.
