Note: The temps which I posted are CPU temps, not core temps, which xelink is probably posting so his CPU temp is probably even lower. My cores idle about 40C and load in low in the low 50s. What case did you get xelink?
Quote from Xelink Yes fans do have heatpipes, The one i just orders has 4 http://www.thermaltake.com/product/Cooler/...78/cl-p0378.asp This one also has heatpipes but this one has 6 http://www.thermaltake.com/product/Cooler/...cl-p0310-01.asp So yes fans do have heatpipes
That's not a fan. That's a CPU Heatsink and yes almost every HS uses heatpipe's nowdaways. Most CPU coolers are heatsinks + a fan, just like the one's you linked. This is a fan:
so basically what you're saying is you have something like this? out of curiosity, what do those heatpipes do? like seriously, it looks like they just sit there pointlessly adding weight, they aren't even touching the heatsink as to devestation the case I got was a Lian-Li PC-V1000 plusII black http://www.coolerguys.com/llpc1000ii.html http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=2040
i know what a heatpipe is. see that heatsink? it has 6heatpipes soldered onto its base and those pipes transfer heat to the fins. FANS DO NOT HAVE HEATPIPES. some heatsinks do. a heatsink is a device which draws heat from something through absorption. a fan is a device which moves fluids of some sort, typically regular air
this is not a "fan" it is a fan attached to a heatsink. you can remove the fan. you get somethign which looks like this I have that HSF. removing the fan increases CPU temps by around 3C.
