crew battles will wrk fine imo, new crews battle old crews as an initiative type of thing.
but to keep the crew(new) u must at least get 6/10 votes, if below that, then there is no crew and u don't have to pay the fees.

Some use crews as a stepping stone to make more creds, learn more gfx skills, just to "fit" or just to chill and such..

i myself made most of my creds before i was in a crew, plus i never used the AG " ,"AM" or"BC ..." to get more customers, people know my stuff is good quality and quality is wat matters...same like crews, if your crew quality sucks(not sayin some crews suck, we all sucked at some point), build on it with more members, learn off eachother, thats a crew.

I havn't read everyhting in the thread so if what i suggest has been said just move on.

It was said on the first page, crews are just a title, why not:
    -cut the numbers of crew
    - limit the positions and member count
-hold a event strictly for crews and their members

I prepose we have a crew only battle royal, where crews enter the same ammount of members to battle the crew pined against them, eg, joe524 from AG might battle steve77 from AM, however to prevoke crew activity. The crew will have a month to battle off within their crew to establish their line up.
    last crew member standing wins.

also i would agree, up the cost of starting crews and make the crew numbers lower and more prestegiouse.

GR mafia isnt a crew really, its more of a group of people that have a topic that they can be reconginzed in for giving back to the community...

Yes, thats completely your own decision, And no one has said anything bad about giving stuff out for free. But as I said, if you give stuff out for free expect nothing in return.

As I said it doesn't have to be monthly, it could be Bi-Monthly, etc.

I think the only reason your opposed to this is because when all these recent crews have payed 2.5k, you payed 5k. And you don't wanna pay any more then you have to.

If this idea was given back when we wanted to try to get rid of credits, I bet a lot more people would be willing to do this.

Yeah, I know. I'm not putting this thread up for me, it was more of an "In General" thing.

    ----

One thing I'm strictly against is MAKING crews give out a Free Pack. People, even you say its the persons art, so it's up to them if they want to sell their style.

I know that is my decision which is why i have been doing this since i first joined the forum. I never expect anything in return for doing things like this, that is not why i do it but this is not about me this is about crews.

I am no opposed to it because of the amount of credits i paid to get my crew up and running i am not for it because i don't see why any crew should have to pay more to keep their crew up and running when they have already paid a set fee to open it. If this monthly fee is to be implemented i think that crews should be free to get up and running then have to pay the monthly fee to keep it open.

I've said this several times, IT DOES NOT HAVE TO BE MONTHLY.

Hell make it every 6 months. Make it 500 credits, who cares. Just SOMETHING to keep the crews out there and active.

Hell even you can spend 500 credits for yourself and your crew.

Simple, I like the idea of forcing crews to release a monthly art packs to show they activity.

In exchange for having their home be on a widely popular forum, they have to give something back to the community, seems like a good idea to me. Dont like that you have to create 1 sig a month? Well then stop attempting to argue that crews need to be active.

Every person can make 1 signature, not everyone can make credits.

I also like the idea of crew battles (with those whom wish to participate, so it being optional), and the crew of the month (via whom has given the most back to the community). Lets get this site back to the way it used to be, helpful, and not a bunch of credit hungry, reputation whoring members like we have now.

I have read some of the things in this topic not everything. Being in 2 crews I have some experience on why crews are going down as they are. I was in the Justice League for quite some time almost a month then I was trying/got in Collaptic Sixx and we all know already what happend there so I won't get into it. I think these are the main reasons why crews aren't taken seriously.

    1. To be a leader of a crew you need to be a organized person who has A LOT of free time on there hands who takes it seriously and your fellow MEMBERS must take it seriously too otherwise it will fail.

    2. A lot of people start up crews so they can be "known" around the GR commuinity adn boost the value of there work so they can sell it for more credits.

    3. Also the standards are too low in my honest opinion. JL Saigon who was my leader in the Justice League honestly got the amount of credits he needed in 2 days by making a tut and selling it along with other tags for FR. The only problem he had was getting his rep. Which he eventually got in two weeks.

    Reasons why crews fail:

    1. In the JL our leader decided to just not post anymore and then one day on MSN he told me he is giving up graphics for good basically. That didn't really help when we just kept adding member after member and our crew was almost 10 people. It got out of control and the crew had no direction and the co leader wasn't as active anymore because he had school and that is understandable.

    2. Honestly if you think about it, its just a crew on GR. Nothing more nothing less. If you want to be in a SERIOUS crew and enter art competetions and what not, that's going to require having a crew thats not a online commuinty. Gather up people you know and then your crew would really start rolling. Or better yet join a club and that way you can meet more people who like the things that you do.

In the end its just a crew on GR and shouldn't be taken more for then a popularity contenst or boosting up the value of your art work.

So there are two options that the GR staff can do.

    1. Leave the crews as there are if your not going to want to make serious ones.

    2. Completely rehaul the standards so that making a crew is actually chanllenging and it will be taken seriously.

    My two cents.

Kirbir - I really dont know what to say, we all have our own opinions. But I think it could be an option between paying the fee or giving out something for free.

Dementia - I agree with everything :) If the staff needs any help, I would love to apply for Sectional Mod for the Crew section? XD The only thing you have changed was the monthly fee into a monthly artpack and not as a choice. I looked at it as an either-or.

THFM - You have the basic idea there. Those are the "standards" for a crew.
