do u get something lie green color after u import your mov file... if then its due to system resources... mov files are having a big disadvantage for this.. they take lots of system resources...

i prefer u convert the mov file to other readable format and continue...

If I may add, this is new new's to me as well that imageready can open a movie file and turn it directly into frames. I use a diffrent method that works just as good but with abit more work that will aid those who have movie formats image ready wont support.

Open your movie in any player that allows step by step advancment. I use the default player that comes with the CCCP (combined comunity codec package, just google it) Its called windows movie player or somthing like that.

Then just get to the part of the movie you want to make into an avatar/sig and go frame by frame and use a screenshot (the player can do it, or if your using a diffrent one a program like fraps will work great) once you have all the snapshots you need for your animation just open them all in imageready and use the menu on the animation pallet and select "layers into frames) it will put all the layers you opened into frames and your done.

Pretty easy, and it allows you to only have the frames you need from the start rather than having extras.
