overall "rated" wattage is grossly exaggerated value in terms of importance. Typically your highend system rarely goes beyond 400W during heavy load, and that's using EVERYTHING. so many manufacturers misstate real world sustained output, or place high emphasis on the 3V and 5V lines without justification. what matters is the current delivered on the 12V rails as the CPU, motherboard, harddrives, RAM and GFX cards all draw primarily off off the 12V rails. example given, my system's only is rated for only 400W output, but it powers everything just fine, without any noticeable fluctuation on the Rails.
Hmm, 600W should be enough, make sure it has atleast 2 PCI-E power apdapters, if possible 4. What do you mean? You mean the cd? the blank side and the silver side? The silver side should always be down? A DVD writer can read and write both DVD and CDs, so you only need one. I don't think I get you though.
i think he means he currently as 2 drives a cd reader and a cd burner and for what he is talking about, he puts the cd he wants to "backup" in the reader (which from his description is above his burner). now, if you only have 1 drive (in this case your DVD-RW) you will be able to burn DVD+R, DVD-R, DVD+RW(-), as well as the same for CD-R and CD-RW. if you only put the dvdrw in your new setup, then what will happen when u backup a disc is, the program you are using (lets say nero 7) will ask you to put the cd or dvd you want to copy in the drive, then it will make a copy of the disc to a temporary drive on your comp, once that is done it will ask you to put in a blank disc then you burn your disc. easy as pie
Oh, that's pretty good then. Thanks a lot for making that clear oasis. As for the power supply, to Devastation: I'm not really sure about the PCI-E express power adapters since i don't really know what they are lol. That's something someone smart at this stuff can only answer. Thanks though. And for the 8800, I read an article on it. I found out that there are different kinds of 8800's. XFX, ASUS, eVGA etc.. Which one should I get? Thanks.
get an evga card, they have a sweet stepup program that u can use when you need to upgrade your card, and you only pay the difference in the card u want and the card you bought. and you are gonna need a power supply with at least 2 pci-e power adapters for any 8800 card (4 if you are gonna go to SLI anytime in the future) you can find how many the power supply has in the specifications section of the PSU u want
You mean like this one?: http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku...ne%20Technology The one john selected has only 2 pins. Thanks.
yup that ones nice, but i would wait for xelink or john or dev as they know a hell of a lot more about PSU's then i do.
I'm gonna be ordering the parts in 2 days probably and if there is anything I should change, please tell me. Oh and sorry for the double post.
here is my recomendation http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku...facture=Enhance it's a good reliable unit and is very reliable if it's anything liekt eh other Zueses. if you want something prettier... http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku...facture=CORSAIR
ahh, you wated to run two 8800s in SLI.. didnt see that. no it cannot, atleast not reliably. you'de need something a bit heftier, the PSU below should suffice(it's also a good quality unit reliable etc.) http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku...CZ%20Technology
