with the aniversery of slave abolitment just want to see yur guys opinions of it. well heres mine theres a big deal about it and how black people were treated so badly, but there was alot of white/asian/indian and loads of other races that were enslaved. i was watching a programe about it and a guy went to africa and asked people what they thought of it, and most agreed with slavery, it was black people that sold the slaves to the white people, and they said it was good because britain brought civiliztation to africa!!! conclusion: yes black slavery was terrible but so was all slavery, most the roman empire was built by slaves. but i think the way blacks were treated after slavery i.e the way they were forced to give up there seats on busses to white people, and i hate that! even tho im white i would hate to see that happen on a bus. right your opinions guys, and please try not to be racist. thanks
any kind of slavery is obv wrong,if its black/asian or whatever it is.Its wrong.Noone should be treated that way. so as you said yes all slavery is bad.
k i guess we should amend our wrongs and send all the black people back top africa, where unlike their ancestors(who were sold into slavery by their own people) they won't be discriminated against on the basis of race... but seriously, how is it even applicable anymore? My great-great grandparents weren't even alive when slavery was common place... heck they weren't even in America
Nothing against black people, but it's been what? Getting close to 200 years since then. It was a pretty damn bad thing to do and it was extremely cruel. But a bunch of other people were doing it, so I guess we just decided "Hey, let's do what they do." Slavery is just plain... stupid. Maybe we could've at least paid 'em. But then it'd probably not be slavery, but forcing them to take the job and take the money, whatever that is. This is an anniversary of America's white population's past stupidity and laziness.
If you read farther than the school text books black were not the only slaves in the U.S.A. It did not matter If you black white or Asian. If you couldn't fight/buy off the slave train you were taken. But back to the topic. Im against it but as was stated before almost all great empires were created by slaves whether the slaves were black or jewish or whatever.
1st and fore most...i am brown (a.k.a black) this is a really pointless topic... why is the back of the bus thing the example you use when describing this topic? better examples (after abolishment): being hosed (100's of pounds of pressure) being mauled (police dogs) beaten (by the police) arsenic and arsonistic murdering just to name a few the thing is that an apology wasn't really announced (not that it really would have helped anyway), the Japanese were even offered an apology after being detained during the war (grant it...it took years) there are also subtle things that people do on the subliminal level: african americans asian americans mexican americans native americans yet caucasians are considered americans (versus euro american...etc.) the dipiction of other ethnic backgrounds is close to zero in most television shows, or they misrepresent/make fun of other cultures biggest example of this is "Walt Disney" i'm done with this topic..............................................
It's wrong. Racism, slavery, the whole lot, and that's by anybody, not just by a certain group/against a certain group. Having said that, this topic is asking for it.
very well stated. I'm one of those crazy people who really doesn't give a damn about ethnicity when deciding how to treat others. Also, I'm going to be considered insane on this. Intellect is for the most part removed from that of physical capacity. The cruel and harsh conditions of transportation and further enslavement has resulted in a disproportionate percentage of Black people who are athletically superior(----- sports, body building, power lifting, running etc.) whereas their intellectual capacity was effectively sustained a negligible level of change so now, it is somewhat accurate to say the the "superior race" in America would be the black race as intellect is on par with the rest of the population while physiological capacity is certainly greater. Wonder what the intolerant slave drivers form the past would have to say to that...

Why people choose to bring up sensitive topics like this is beyond me.. But anyways, I'm black, and I have no problem with other races. It is kind of annoying when white people use the "n" word just to sound cool. Everyone is alright with me, just don't act racist towards me. about the black slavery thing..It's ------ed up, but thats not a real reason for me to hold a grudge against, or hate anyone because of their race.

Slavery is wrong and always will be in my eyes, theres some very good points in here. Havoc, i have to say it is 50/50 when it comes to racism, i wouldn't say it was mainly the white people doing it. Also i would just like to state that i am not just saying this because i am white, i am just stating this on the proof i, myself have witnessed throughout the years. I have black relatives also so i can't stand it when people are racist towards any ethnicity, whether you are white, black, asian etc we are all the same inside.
