Okay..i'm looking to make a REAL forum for band...not a free one by IF or something.. So I was wondering what you are supposed to use to do this.. I'm pretty sure Hosting is not an issue because I'm all set there. Thank you for any help you can provide.
Well u now have a choice to decide between IPB and VBulletin. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages. IPB is what gamerenders uses. VBulletin is sort of a more modernized streamlined version of IPB. In opinion, I would say go with IPB just because of its sheer simplicity but if you're looking for advanced security go with VBulletin.
If you go with ipb look at invisionize they have lots of mods and those will get you started, if there not already built in
well IPB 2.2.x is very secured altough there aren't many mods yet, plus most of them are still buggy. IPB 2.1.7 is less secure but it has the biggest amount of mods and theyare working As for VB i can't tell much cuz i only use it from time to time and even that i've installed it and few mods i don't much about it -_-
What would you guys/girls recommend most?? I don't want it to be hacked... and i really don't need TOO many mods... For example, my IF Forum has all the mods that I need... i just need one w/o all the ads and stuff like that and that I can have my own domain with. And that won't get hacked.**
IPB is the better choice, there are like +600 mods to choose from for the 2.1.x and there are many in the making for 2.2.x. As far as security, 2.1.7 is pretty secure and I have yet to hear of a confirmed 2.2.x attack.
