Can anyone help please? My internet is driving me crazy.

Okay. So my wireless strength is always around 89%-100%

When it's on 100%, the download speed on my computer directly cabled to the router is 500kB/s.
My wireless on 100% signal is at 100kB/s, errr.. why?

Also... THIS is the most important, my router keeps cutting me off, ALOT, sometimes every 5 minutes, sometimes only twice a day, for some time, but does anyone know how to fix? It's horrible!!

    Thank you, please help :D

    ----

Update now, wont work if I change anything. If I disable to the firewall on router, change the wireless name, put encryption on, it won't connect to the internet? This is bad :( [it wont connect on main computer plugged into it either!]

A wireless connection will always be slower, as the router or card may not support the full speed of the connection, and it's transmitting the signal through the air. You wont get as good of a connection while wireless, one of the reasons why gamers never use wireless connections. As for the disconnections, sounds like overheating, unplug your router overnight one day.

Try to do a power cycle on your router and your modem. Power both off, then power the modem first, give it 30 seconds, then boot the router. Also, do you have your WEP or WPA encryption on? If not then someone is possibly stealing bandwidth from you. If nothing is protecting your wireless connection, I can just be outside of your house stealing internet access or bandwidth.

The percentage of your wireless signal doesnt make that big of a difference. Its basically how quick the waves are moving back n forth from each end. The speed really depends on your router model and your wireless card. Wired will of course always be quicker. Its just how it works. With my router, I get up to 450 Kb/s with my laptop (wireless). I use an Intel Wireless Card and a LinkSys Wireless Router W/ SpeedBooster. Don't remember the exact models. Also, you can try installing DD-WRT on your to control the power of the signals sent out from your router.

The amount of data being transferred isn't the max your modem can achieve.

You might need some wireless extenders. How far do you use your wireless connection from your router? Are you on the 1st or 2nd floor? Are there a lot of walls between you and the router?

hmmm.... im guessing you don't have the capability of using a cable modem? If you do, do what i did; first we bought a linksys cable modem along with a d-link 108mps g-wireless router. The connection is really good compared to the cut outs i would get with my crappy linksys router.

You computer could be too far from the wireless router that might be the problem

used to happen to my uncle all the time, he got a more powerful router

but he said it worked fine when he went closer to the old one

The router is downstairs, and I'm upstairs. Can't move router upstairs either, no phone lines up here.
