hye guys need to change my harddrive i dont want to copy any data tho. but my pc is pritty old, so will i need a certian hard drive so the conections all fit?? or doesnt it matter with hd's because if its like ram ill need to do some rearch lol thanks guys
There are different types of hard drives e.g. SATA (Serial ATA) etc. You will need the same type of hard drive as your previous one so you know it will connect to your motherboard. I'm not an expert, so wait for someone to confirm but I think it's as easy as that
Well as your pc is pritty old you will proberly need IDE. SATA i sorta new so i dont think you will be using that Arbiter
if its old u probly need an IDE type o harddrive, but the easiest way for us to help ya would prob be for you to just tell us the exact motherboard you have
ok well when i got the pc it was already put together so i duno wha mobo it is i'll see if it says what type of hd it is
i can almost guarantee that it uses and eIDE drive if it's made between say 1990-2003 toss in new harddrive, install windows on it, move files form old harddrive to new one, then there isn't even a real reason to remove the older drive to be honest....
if it's brokem you won't really be getting data off of it(atleast not without great expense or if ti's just a simple deletion of the MBR or something similar.)
It's an IDE HD I bet you. It's either Ultra DMA 100 or 133. More likely DMA 100 the older of the two.
you could always go out and buy an external hard drive which for like $130 you can get about 500 MB of memory and it will go a long way i actuallly got one justy the other night
