Dial Up

    I've heard of T1. Is it faster then T3?

    no

    for the average user, anything past highend DSL is pointless though.

    cable might be handy in a household with a lot of heavy downloaders.

    Who in the world still has dial up?
    I recently switched to verizon fios and it is incredible!
    30Mbps download and 5Mbps upload :D

    T1 is slower then T2
    T2 is slower then T3
    T1 is cheaper then T2
    T2 is cheaper then T3

    so no T1 isn't faster then T3 :\

    lol. I just got the 56 k modem thing. That is what T1 and stuff is isn't it?

    Its been a long time since i've used dial up. Is broadband not in your area?

    Ya, that's the only thing we have in this area. And I don't think we're planning on moving anytime soon.

    Dial Up?! Ohhh, that stuff!

    Yeah been a while since I had it, and most web developers completely ignore guys stuck behind dial-up connections now anyway.

    There's always the possibility of satellite broadband though isn't there?
    (It's v.expensive though!)

    In a nutshell:

    T1 is normally for large business mainly running 15+ telephone lines and computer stations. It's run through what is called a CAT4 cable, the same that runs DSL and Cable, yet uses more of the piping while transmiting at higher speeds. T1 is the fastest most people have ever or will ever use.
    Though generally when used in an office it operates similar to Cable due to high bandwidth usage.

    A single person on T1 would get speeds that God himself could fear.

    used dial up for while i cut it away till i got broaband :)
