well ive got 170$ to spend and i want to beef up my system a bit more.

    what im running now

    E6600
    ECS 590 SLI mobo
    2x 7600GS 512mb gfx cards (in SLI)
    2x 512mb Corsair XMS2 DDR2 5400 (675)

i dont have a very highend case but i do have a good 550w psu.

so what should i upgrade first? i was thinking about just dropping a 7600 and buying a new DS3 board (the board i used to set the #1 super pi time)

or i was gonna buy another GB of ram cause its only 79$ at newegg right now.

so what should i buy or wait to buy?

I would upgrade the mobo. I don't trust ECS motherboards, try to see if you could get an Asus or a Gigabyte mobo.

You could up the RAM to 2 gigs, same brand, but you could go for DDR2 PC6400 (800)

Getting a new motherboard and dropping a video card would just decrease performance; why do that?

If you don't have enough space, do as Chris said.

i was recommending it for the speed boost, not the space.

my next upgrade will most likely be a second drive.

For the money, I'd sell your XMS2, and buy a 2x1gb D9GKX kit :P But you already ordered. I was trying to sell my 4*512mb kit, but the price dropped for like 50%, you can get 2gb for €140 now and when I bought I 2gb paid €280 :( So i'll just keep them now. They'll do 475 44412 2.3v and 500 55515 2.1v, still high volts. My next upgrade would be a 320gb seagate for storage and 8900GS / equelevant.

It won't be my first choiche... plastic front... :S

I hope you'll like your new stuff :)

yea the plastic door doesnt bother me cause i have never broken a door on a case yet (ive had like 8 different cases) and i really dont open it that often so nothing to worry about.

the next comp i build (prolly gonna be an AMD+ATI combo) im gonna use this case

imagine that cooling with 7+ 120mm fans....

    remember, more isn't necessarily better.

someone with that case found that only having two fans on the side for intake and one for exhaust works best

im running XP, so 1gig works just fine for me, i will upgrade again when prices drop on 2gb kits.

o and on another note, i got my case and everything and i was shocked at how sturdy the plastic door on my soprano was, its really thick plastic too. also its really really quiet, definately a deal (was only 79$)
