Plus the fact that we MUST supply a original image, giving full credit to the original author

Technicly, that doesn't matter much. We are still "modifing" (which in 9 times out of 10 is against their terms of service) by cutting it. If the companies really did care, I'm sure that they would have said something about it already. DA spoke up about it, and we discontinued rendering their wallpapers. If other comapnies are having problems with us doing this, then they should also speak up. We would be more then happy to stop cutting their images.

However, we never claimed that we made the images. Thats also one point that the companies should look at. We give all credit to the companies/artist who made them, and I hope they realize that this simple process we do may make us future artist of the next generation.

Modifiing any type of copyrighted image is illeagal. everything from DA to the halo render in my tag. The only reason that I know of, that why no one is takeing action is because there is to many gfx artists and game/movie devolopers, and actors may have relized that tags are also a way of promoting their game/movie or whatever without haveing to pay for the ad.

Following the same line of thought, every fanart/gamewallpaper/animewallpaper would be illegal as well.

DA are just saying that to keep 'renders' from appearing on their site.

Technically it is ripping since you're taking a part out of the image. xD

I have actually though about this before. The only thing that keeps me doing it is that they havn't said anything about it.

If it isn't broken don't fix it.
