QFT. I've been running Vista for about a week now and I'm not having any glaring issues with it. The main issue is certain programs not being compatible, but it's nothing I can't get around with another program or live without. If you're buying a brand new copy of Windows or something, there's no reason not to give Vista the shot.
I say XP, if you are gonna be gaming, i heard that vista messes you up and reduces your fps. But if your gonna be listening to music or messing around on the internet, i guess i would go with vista since it looks nice.
If you don't have to pay much extra for it, i'd go for it. I'm running Ultimate now for a small period and it runs great, still the driver support is weak on some things. Can't overclock memory on my x1950...
Definetly Vista. If you are getting a new PC, Vista is your man. Don't waste money on buying a Vista CD when you can have it preloaded.
As i just used vista at my friends place... He got his PC like a few days ago with vista preinstalled He called me over saying sound doesnt work At all [was working before at the start - he didnt change nothing on the system] I thought it probably a driver/codec needs installing but no ... Its like the whole sound system has failed lol No idea what the problem is - The sound just doesnt want to work After that experience i am not getting vista till after months later when fixes get released or a major pack OR when its stable enough like XP XP runs perfect and better than vista at the moment - No need to upgrade to a system that has hardly got any updates on drivers so far Vista looks amazing though I have to give credit for that but the drivers and that at the moment is poor DARKSTAR
Coz if it was connected to the IPOD right in front of me & the sub just blows you away with the sound it produces then the speakers are not faulty DARKSTAR
dude, vista's less GUI intensive than XP. XPs GUI is handled by the CPU, vista's is done by the GPU. Even GPUs that are 5 years old can handle aero... and if yours can't you could just disable it. it's more a matter of drivers being ---- and it requiring to much RAM to be justifiable.
The only main change with Vista is Nero. Other then that XP is still rated the best. But for "PC World", a magazine i get this is the order the operating systems go in: -Mac OS X -Linux -Windows XP -Windows Vista And a lot of computer magazines think the only reason Vista was made was because of "Mac OS X".
Because the majority of games compatible with XP are able to be run on Vista. I played CS:S and DoD:S on Vista and got a better FPS average than I did on XP. Was able to get well over 100 FPS in both games when I was lucky to squeeze out 60 in XP.
