Ok I would not ask you to do anything that would endanger your pc lol, DO NOT TOUCH ANYTHIMG unil you have read the post throughly. first thing you do is turn off the pc, I must assume you know what your hard drive looks like (if not google hard drives and look at the pictures they all look about the same), first you must pull the side from your pc but dont touch anything inside, when you see your hard drive look at the white molex plug that powers up your hard drive (arrow #1 in the pic i have attached) now visibly locate a spare plug hanging around inside the case (like arrow #2 in the pic) if there is not one then you can borrow the plug from the cd/dvd rom it has the same plug. Now that you have visibly inspected the pc the first thing you touch is the metal on the tower to discharge any static electricty you have built up if you dont then you WILL burn out you pc and be looking for a new rig. then change the molex plug out for a spare or the one you borrow from the cd/dvd rom you will not be able to plug it in the wrong way becuse the plug is built like a rectangle with two corners cut, in other words if it dont fit then flip it over. now you can try to power up your pc up and if this has solved your problem then just put your side back on (if you had to borrow your cd/dvd power plug becuse there is no spare then you will need to have your power supply replaced) molex plugs are repairable but good luck finding some one in your area who would be willing to do it. when doing this do not touch anything else in the pc and while it is open a can of air would be real usefull to blow out the dust in the machine and look for the fan on the heat sink to the processor and blow the dust out of the fins in the heat sink you wont belive how much that helps, still do not touch anything inside the tower, hope this helps. :D

It's likely that the CD-Rom was setup as the Master in the jumper settings and the HD as the slave. Now taking the power from the CD-Rom change the boot order or you have to change the jumper on the HD to Master.

He's getting into changing jumper settings. If I am correct those will be located on the motherboard/other components inside your computer.

If you do not feel confident tinkering with your PC, I wouldn't really recommend messing with the jumper settings.

You could however change the boot device priority settings usually done by getting into the BIOS (try pressing F8 when your computer maker (tiny?) logo is displayed when your computer is starting up).

    G'luck!

changing the power plugs will not change the boot order on a IBM clone style pc I am not shure about a mac though. I would not recomend changing the jumper settings that is just asking for trouble. my best advice at this point is to pull the ram dust the entire machine out and reseat the ram. my machine gives me the crazy beeps like that when I have let the dust build up get to bad and fan on the heatsink has blown dust into the ram slot breaking the connection uksually a quick dusting and and reseating the ram does the trick.

Sorry about the delay in posts. Lets get the hard drive figured out unplug the drive and boot the machine up, see if the problems remain the same or if the error beeps change any either way with the power off to the hard drive you will recive the insert disk no os error but we need to see if the beeps change any. plese post and let me know what happens.

Does it say " fatal error memory dump blah blah blah.... then sit there then reboot... If it does the hard drive was over worked and it had a memory dump... or the files you had open were too heavy for the ram..
