Hey all, I am working on a 'new' subject on school. We want to teach 'multi-media' next year. As there arent much secondairy school that teach this we will have to make everything ourselves, including books and materials. My question to you is: What would you like to see/expect in that new subject? Basically this will be for 11 till 16 year olds, 1.25 hour in the week Bratzer
DO NOT TEACH THEM PHOTOSHOP, ILLY, FLASH, GIMP, etc.. Seriously, they'll be bored before you know it. Photoshop sounds like fun, but you have to start with the basics and lets face it.. thats b0ring. Show them movies  and let them write reviews. Or give them projects like : make a movie about a normal day in your life, stuff like that.
Well, start of with Photoshop. That will teach them 2D. I would then move on to InDesign, or Illustrator. Those aren't as fun, but very educational and usefull.. Business cards, stationary, envelopes, logos, etc. Then I would move onto 3D. A very, VERY good begining program is Anim8or. (www.anim8or.com) It is completely FREE. Download and use. Most basic 3D program out there. After that, move onto things to do with animation and movement.. Not sure what to use. And finally, something to do with movies/music.. That would basically cover multi-media, from art of 2d, 3d, business items, animation, and entertainment.
Ah cool, multimedia = Media Arts at our school. It was a ton of fun. I'll break down what we did in the semester: Assignment 1 - Pixelation Assignment 2 - Three minute clip (movie-ish production) (group) Assignement 3 - Power Point presentation on a director Final Assessment - Movie that uses the directors style (group project) 1 + 3 are individual 2 + 4 are group It was a ton of fun and I learned a bit of crap. Maybe throw in Photoshop in there as well cause PS rocks
u dont hve tht...my bro and sister did media and they studied all sorts of stuff different like camera angels how they ,made etc
teach photography or film making. Photoshop and that stuff can be pretty boring if you're not dedicated.
My school has a 4 year media class and they basically focus on filming and the aspects of that. They do the morning announcements and all of that as well, pretty crummy but it gives them the basic idea on how the equipment works. They do mini films in groups all the time, film interviews with random students, etc. With that, they get an understanding on the equipment to film and also how to edit them films. As far as I know, they don't learn anything about Photoshop or Flash and the likes. There's another class for that, Graphic Design. If they want to learn something along those lines, take a design class. Media and graphic design are two entirely different subjects if you ask me.
