Please, even with the 4mb L2 cache, the 6600 only performed 2% better.

dont believe me? go find the article on Toms Hardware.

I'm sorry dude, but that just proves you need to read up more. It's pretty common knowledge now that the E'6400 and the E'6300 are Conroes.

None the less, you won't find much real world noticeable difference between an (overclocked) E'6400, and an E'6600. Sure, you might just see 1-5 seconds difference in Super Pi, or a few hundred extra points in 3D Mark; but who cares?

i dont think there is a need for the 140$ case , theres cases much cheaper and better looking. Also, if you're spending 2000 $ on a computer might as well look for around 3GHz not 2.4... Oh and the LCD is not bad, but you should look for like 75 refresh rate.

if he's spending one a computer, he should get one with a process which:
A: has good performance/GHz, not one which was designed for high external clock speeds at almsot any cost
B: doesn't run as hot as a little bitch in a string bikini

for the record, the only processors which officially run at 3.0GHz and have a decent price are Pentium 4s, Celeron Ds and Pentium Ds. They're only baout half as powerful/GHz as the Core 2s.

John, you came from a 2,8GHz Pentium D, at stock, is you're C2d faster? At 2.13Ghz does it outperform your old pentium D?

    I know my c2d @2.13 outperforms my schools old 2.8Ghz P4 boxes.

and I also know that i'm able to run my c2d at 3.4GHz without much effort.

I think you should cut back on some of the stuffs and get a better monitor, something with a faster response time

anything basically unde the 8 ms refresh rate is going to put me over budget, im not really worried about a moniter only want to replace my crt for space saving.....btw you can easily over clock the e6600 with a stock cpu fan and stuff, but have you noticed im getting a BETTER cpu fan for what??? none other then overclocking.....

Intel isn't known for having the greatest stock fans...

Anyhow, you should have 5ms for a monitor if you dont want ghosting.

you realize that an 8ms responce time equates to about the same performance as a 2ms responce time right?

see most LCD monitors have refresh rates below 100hz so yeah...
