the term excaped my mind, yes it's a scripting language... HTML css and similar are all scriptinglanguages, which is what I'd meant. WHen I said it wasnt' a language I meant it wasn't a programming language.
all right. it's made with C, so i still count it as a programming language jk. html is a markup language, not a scripting language. CSS is a 'mechanism' (as quoted by w3c.org)
Scripting languages are just interpreted programming languages, so markup does not fall into that category, because it does not allow you program (ie. make decisions based on input etc). So markup is html, css, xml etc. and scripting is php, perl, javascript........ As for my preferences: Compiled: C Interpreted: Perl, Bash
I'd always assumed that anythign which was interpretted case by case was a scripting language tand that markup languages are case-specific markup languages which specify formatting guess I'm wrong.
