i know there is a set amount of space put a side for it and but how much help is it and will it really make that big of a difference.
Yeah its a big difference. Virtual memory is important for Windows resources, programs, and etc. Of course ,setting it to a slightly lower amount wouldnt affect your performance that much but set it to about 2 MB and see if you can still click the start button. :lol: :tongue:
it's essentially harddrive filing where your harddrive is used in place of RAM. IMO it's pretty worthless if you have a lot of RAM and it slows down performanec, but if you have very litlte RAM, then yes it is a necessity, its usefulness varies by your systems resources and drive speed.
Yes virtual memory uses the hard drive to make up for lack of ram in windows systems, another excuse to get more ram, yay!
