To me, the only difference is the look..But if you play computer games, theres dx10, and some other stuff.

Cuurrently, it's not really worth upgrading, with the RAM usage and all. It's mainly a security update, with new UI and other features that Microsoft decided were good that other OSs had.

its alot more aesthetically pleasing, a few security fixes, the addition of DX10, not sure what packages do include it but some include the media centre like in windows media centre edition 2005, Ram usage isnt that high, certain settings can be turned down, and considering 512mb/1gb is an ammount most people have it shouldnt be too much of a problem, for gaming however you may need a little bit more to eb on the safe (and not as laggy) side.

Actually it is. The new Vista fixes a lot of the problems that XP had such as Security. It is safer overall and it "messes up" less then the XP. If you are deciding whether you want to upgrade or not, I suggest you do. The look is a plus also.

Theres alot more then just security and gaming...Theres alot more accessabily options, Like 3d flip. You have more control over the OS...Theres a cool feature called Voice recognation, Which is fun to play with if you have a mic (teach it bad words :P)...The new windows games are fun like Inkball its very addictive...Theres alot the list is just to big

Before anyone gets hooked on upgrading to vista, you should most likely check this article out:

I just installed Vista on my secondary computer, (got it from school for free), and all it is a "security" update.

I quoted Security, becuase I looked for what was, was runnin in the background. 15 things, such as allow computer to act as server, allow Ip detection on websites and stuff.

First of all, I dont want my computer running as a server, which is was because by default it does with vista. Nor do I want websites notified of my presence everytime I go to them.

all vista is is a security update with an improved interface. I don't have Vista yet, until there is a sufficient driver support from ALL companies. Also, to help Windows XP, I have my hefty load of 3rd party security.

there are a few differences, i suggest upgrading, but not yet. wait until some of the bugs are fixed and the OS works better without so many flaws, then get it. unless u r in a rush to get an OS. then get it now and deal with it. i think vista is good overall.
