I'm sure your monitor and sound will support it. The main ones to be concerned are Video card and RAM.

RAM doesn't matter, Vista isn't that picky...

Worry more about your sound/motherboard drivers...

    look
just stay with XP for like a year
wait till all the bugs, glitches, patches, drivers have been updated then go to vista
i still had my windows 98 in 2004 because all games still suported it and it was less demanding then XP

I suggest a gig as well. I'm running it now and my RAM is consistently in the 35-45% usage range. Depending on what I have open it'll stick around 50-60%. I'd like to get another stick of 512 soon just to be sure.

As for your original question, I'm not sure. Xelink should know though.

I'd stick with Xp..Theres nothing really special about Vista anyway except for the look, which can easily be emulated using windowblinds.

Theres some real good features on vista...Like Dx10 games...but you need to wait for them so its best to get vista later this year when its settled down and theres more programs out

One of the main reasons I decided to go with Vista was because I needed to reformat my hard drive anyway, wasn't running right any longer. I'm happy with it so far, it does everything I've needed it to do and I'm actually getting some faster load times with it online and with apps.

You're correct. Vista uses 50% of my 2GB ram, when heavy gaming around 80-90%. Still, vista uses 768Mb of the ram, and dedicade's it to the vga, that's why it uses 1gb idle.

Meh, Vista is sexy, but Xp is more reliable. I'll switch if Microsoft stops supporting Xp.

If you use Home Basic, 256RAM is enough.

4features can be disabledin any version of vista so system recources shouldnt be a problem. But i' still stick with XP for now, alot more reliable atm.
