i put down muhammad, allah, and others because they are the same people from christianity into islam/muslim religion. I was given a 0/5. That my friend is illegal.
I like it when religion is talked about of class. I've been having evolution crammed down my throat for the past 4 years and I would like something else taught to me besides evolution.
if you're able to justify your answers and the teacher didn't go voer the "exact" answers in class, then that is bull----. otherwise it's not. and allah is god. BITCH AT HER ABOUT THAT.
If the author of the story intended for the characters to be based off of the Biblical men, then what's wrong with that?
if the question was "who did the author base character X upon" then there would be nothing wrong with marking someone off for a "wrong" answer, but if the question was "who does character X represent" then it's open to debate and so long as your choice and explanation are justifiable, then they should stay. regardless it's not justifiable to get someone fired over it. You would ruin a persons life for that, get them stripped of their credentials and effectively make them loose everything they have all because you wished to be a smartass.
http://www.cs.unm.edu/~kwiley/mindRambling...Separation.html Found that today while doing a research report on the current administration and how it's changing for English class. Small, straight to the point read. Lawl, America has always been a country filled with stupidity. No doubt about it. I'm a Christian and I believe Separation of Church and State is a benefit if anything. In all honesty people just want to impose personal beliefs, as if what they believe in is an ultimate fact, when the real fact of the matter is religion is all based on faith. Over half of America is dead from the neck up. Period. I have a similar problem with my school, thing is my school is a hefty Christian private school. I'm never called on to state my own opinion, I can never question anything. It's basically evil to question stuff, but rather "submit" myself is doing the right thing.... People are entitled to their own beliefs, your teacher is a little... I'm not going to stay. I'd rather I keep my language clean. Luckily, though, your teacher's retiring, my teachers now and the teachers to come sadly won't be retiring anytime soon. Freedom of Religion FTW. I'm reading through your post again.... You do understand that Billy Budd is an ALLEGORY, right? We are NOT talking about religion....we're talking about a LITERARY ALLUSION. This sounds like you're just being ignorant, rather than having some sort of reasoning behind this. Every athiest has a belief and a faith, every single one of them. I know there's something you believe in. You seem to just flaunt your own ignorance before fellow atheists who will blindly support you. C'mon, man, it is what it is. And Billy Budd all the answers are religious. Just because you're a so called "atheist" doesn't justify the fact that you have to avoid answers.... <_<
We were talking about this in history class today. Our teacher was telling us how when he voted for the president a few years ago, it was in a church, in front of the ballet box was a cross. He is a christain but it made him angry, because not everyone is a christain. He sued somebody, forget who, and won
More than one faith Christianity Not to criticize, but you need to look at it objectively. Jesus is the only thing in there that is purely Christianity. You say that you did not do the assignment the proper way because you do not share the beliefs expressed? Forgive me if I'm wrong, but that's the way I'm reading it. Did she give you information on the topic? Did you study things called "Christ figures" and "allusions" in your class? I'm going to explain something to you. In literature, especially Western literature, Christianity is a big influence. As such, in the study of literature, there will be things called "allusions," which refer to another work of literature, belief, movie, etc. etc. Things called "Christ-figures" and "God-figures" and "Devil/Satan-figures" will pop up often. It's a literary technique that writers often use. Study literature from the Jewish culture and you will, without a doubt, find allusions to Judaism. The same holds true with Islam, Hinduism, and just about everything else. Here's the meat of this post: you don't have to always agree with what is taught. What is important is that you learn what is being taught for the test/grade. Evolution was taught in a biology class of mine; I didn't agree with the theory and still do not, but I learned it for the test and grades. Abortion was taught about in an ethics class and the same held true. If you seriously believe that you were discriminated against for the assignment(s), get another student's paper(s), one that passed the assignment. Compare the answers. If theirs (preferably multiple papers) were correct and you had a different answer, it's simply that you didn't answer the question correctly. If you had the exact same answers (multiple choice etc.) or answers that presented the same information (essay questions), then you were discriminated against. Here, you can do one of many things. First, raise the issue with the teacher. Not a "hey, you were discriminating against me and bla bla bla" approach, something like "he got this right, I put the same thing, and you counted mine wrong." Ask her to explain why. If it was an honest mistake, hopefully she'll correct it and that'll be it. If you really suspect that it was discrimination after her explaination, go raise hell with an administrator. Civil rights issues and a whole slew of other things can be brought down. She could get fired over something like that. Now, here's the second part of your post: 1. Did you raise the issue with an administrator? 2. Do you have students that will back up what you say to an administrator? (More than one who were there at that time) Aside from that, that sounds like a load of ---- to me. I'm not discounting what you're saying, but I have never heard of a teacher in a public school (you're going to a public school, I hope, otherwise everything I've just said is rendered impotent; they can do whatever they want if it's a public school). Never has religion played a part in my public school classes, and I'm in college now. If it was a public school, you need to march your ass up to an administrator and start raising hell. Any number of civil rights cases can be brought up, not to mention violations of the Constitution, school district code (public schools can not discriminate on anything). If you're in a private school, the only thing you can do is consider going for another school. As a Christian, this makes me angry simply because this supposed "Christian" can be so ignorant as to discriminate against those around him (the Bible calls for tolerance, something this person obviously hasn't shown). As for voting in a church, I've voted in one as well. In fact, most places around here that you vote at are churches. Again, tolerance is the key on both sides. If you don't want to vote at a church, register for a new voting location. Now, because I was short on time, I didn't read the entire post. Here's one of your posts: If you put down Muhammed, Allah, and other figures from the Muslim faith, consider that only Allah (God) would have been a correct answer. Muhammed is not the "Muslim Jesus" and the Muslim faith does not have a Christ-like figure that does for them what Christ does for Christianity. Having said that, unless you could back up those answers, (debate questions as was stated), you were wrong. It's not a case of discrimination, it's a case of you refusing to do an assignment the way it was supposed to be done because it had Christian figures in it, which means you are discriminating just as much as the teacher is as described in your post.
I'm still curious as to how the hell this has any kind of correlation with Separation of Church and State. This has nothing to do with the government. This is just a guy complaining over a literary allusion and pointlessly ranting like there was even an alternative to the answers, when there wasn't. Even Wikipedia says that the answers were Moses, Jesus, Satan, etc.! This is pointless!
