Well ever since i got my Yahoo DSL around last year its been going around 10 kbps everyday, and i download stuff almost everyday. Sometimes i just let it sit and ignore it, but i am kind of fed up now. There is 3 computers in the house that connects to my dads router. I don't know if its how far the computer is or the router itself. My dad bought new antennas for the router so we could get better signal but it seems not to work

I want to know if there is a solution to this problem. Why does it constantly lag? Also sometimes around evening starting 6:00. The whole internet in the house(router), dies out and we don't have internet for about 2 hours or maybe not till the next day. I don't know whats happening but i want to fix it. Also could it be because theres to many computers? Or how far my dads computer is to ours?

Thanks all lot in advance =]

You are sure that your internet connection is faster then 10Kbps? Whats the distance between your PC's and the router? Is your connection faster if you use a direct connection w/o your router?

Honestly we never used a direct connection its always been wireless. Also my dads computer is just down the hallway and into his room, and really yes. It does do 10 kbps per second everyday and all the time i download and id be lucky to get around 20 kbps.

first you need to find out who your ISP is (internet servive provider) then you need to find out which internet plan you are on (like 2 MB download with 200 KB upload)
if you say you get max 20 KBps download that means your on dial up or a really slow ISP :D
if its dialup then theres not much to do since dialup is preeeeety slow
and how old is your router and do you leave it on all the time ?
my router is 2 1/2 years old and i cant have it on for more then 6 hours straight or it overheats, maybe thats what your router does
check with your ISP what your internet plan is then check on http://www.speedtest.net/ if they arent playing around with you
im kinda leaving out dial up arent i ?
anyways post back here when youv checked that and ill see what i can do to help

Oh ok thanks alot man. Well lets see. The ISP we have is Yahoo DSL (not dial-up lol). I also don't know the plan but i can be sure to ask my dad. Well my router is a Linksys BEFW11S4, i dont know how old it is but we had it for a while. Also yes, my router is on all the time. 24/7 For as long as we've lived here. Which is September of last year.

Also i took the test, this is what i got:
(As you can see its really bad, and it lags when i take the download test, but the upload test smooth and seems to work fine)

Also my thingy antenna is a D-Link Airplus DWL-520. Thanks =]

    well ..
first time i see a bigger upload then download Oo
i was just checking the yahoo site and looks like there must be an error
their loest package has a 768 KB download rate and you are getting less then 200 on average
first, wireless = quality breakers, ever heard of a gamer that uses wireless connection ? very rarely, always getting pinged out because of a missed connection and you know
do the test without wireless, use a wire (if you have one) from your router to your modem
oh btw is it a router/modem or do you have a separate modem ?

Wow. I see wireless is gay i guess lol. I can try to let me dad know about the wire and see how it goes from there. Lets see. In my dads desktop there is the Linksys Router, than there is the Modem that was provided by yahoo dsl.

    not necessarily slower
just worse quality which could get ignored (kind of) on the way to the central backbone of the internet or wherever you are sending
