So, seems like teen depression is on the rise!
    or maybe it's just me.
but anyways, a lotta my friends seem to be sad lately,
and like in general have a negative attitudeish.

so, i'm sitting there trying to make them feel better.
but i can't seem to figure out what to do.

    so i'm wondering.
when you're sad, what makes you feel better?
what could a friend do to cheer you up?

    =]

Honestly... talking makes myself and others feel better. Even about stupid stuff or funny memories. Whatever takes the mind off of the daunting thing at hand, even for a moment or two.

But if I am alone, I usually draw... Drawing's good therapy.

well yah, i know talking but like.. iunno i tend to ask what's wrong and if they wanna talk about it, but issit better to like talk about other things ? and isn't it hard to bring up something random?

but sometimes, i feel like it's a burden to have to talk back to some1 because i'm suffering from a problem and they just wanna talk about sosemthing stupid.

Well I get this a lot with my friends. When you try to cheer them up, think like you would when creating a poem. You don't have to be good at literature. What it means is choose your words wisely and make them relate to your feelings as much as possible.

Everyone is unique but there are many psychological traits that we share. Wanting others to understand is one of the biggest ones. When I help others I relate, and mind you I hardly have a life (because I am on the net). Even so I manage to come up with things I didn't realize before. Life can be viewed in many ways and so can happiness. Get them bent on happiness and the truth on how it relates to them in respect to what you want them to see.....

Being depressed is the new fad. Wanna know how I help my friends who get all depressed on me? I ignore them. They 90% of the time only do it for attention, so if you don't give it to them, they will normally go back to normal in under a month, if they don't they probably have a genuine issue.

That is quite true. the only reason I am the way I am is because my friends ignore me. You get more thinking done when other don't always give you the answers.

It is nice to have that one person push you in the right direction though. Some people I know are to hard headed to think for themselves unless given a nudge.

So I guess thats one thing I do...when I get tired of helping I give them a nudge...

this guy above me is very wise.

punch them in the face and tell them to stop being such damn ------s

Its what id expect my friends to do for me, i love those guys.

On a less serious note, it dpeneds on if their depression is warranted or not. if they have got a reason to be upset talk about the reason, dont beat around the bush with all that other happy crappy ----.

If they're depression isnt warranted, and theyre doing it just becuase its oh so hot right now, punch them in the face and tell them to stop being such damn ------s

Drawing's only therapy if you're good at it!
I don't know. I was a little stressed out because of my science fair, since I procrastinated until the last minute, but I finished it and it's over.
So I pretty much just faced my problem. Tell them to do that.

Whatever you do, avoid forcing them to participate in something, that makes it much worse.

Usually sharing old memories and things that make them laugh in a notsalgic way will do the trick.

i just tell them to suck it up, aint no reason in talkin about it. unless like your parents die, or something extreme like that, it aint that big of a deal to go all depressed on your friends and dragging them into your problems
