Alright guys, just exactly what the topic says; This is will my first build and its going to be a budget build for the fact that For my Highschool Graduation i am spending 1 month in Europe with my friends (visiting 7 countries). So i need a pc for college. My budget is around $700 The case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16811233003 As for the cpu i want to go intel, ive thought about c2d since thats what we use on our laptops for school and there friggin fast. But i would think that would be out of the budget. If you guys can help me out with the system i will pitch in 50creds for whom comes up with the best build.
out of curiosity, why are you spending 1/5th of your budget on the case? Especially if it is out of stock... or do you already have it? and if you aren't going c2d, it's pointless to go with intel. and stupid. that's more or less their only decent product(pentium Ds are mediocre) one more thing what's the intended use of it, gaming, general use, multi media? and do you need to buy windows, or can you 'get' it elsewhere/allready have a copy.
So.. I'm thinking: $175 E'4300 $100 Biostar TForce P965T $80ish 1GB DDR2-800 $100ish 7600GT $40 case, no way your getting a $140 case in a budget build $70-$80 200-320GB Seagate Barracuda $30 CD/DVD R+RW $70 PSU (this) It is about $20 over budget including shipping, but you have $35 in Mail in rebates. links: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16827152076 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16811119068 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16822148146 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814130062 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820220088 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813138037 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16819115013 and psu link is up there.
the intended use of the computer is for gaming and audio editing. I know i chose a case which was rather expensive so i guess i need to change it. while i was out today a friend of mine said the e6300 c2d is almost equivalent to the e6400 and it costs less. Is it better to go with that? I have a specialized copy of xp por
the e4300 is effectively the same as an e6300 in terms of performance, within 2% in most scenarios, and thsoe are easily overclocked should you desire to do so. also, Fry's electronics has some e4300/motherboard combos for $150 quite good for the money in my opinion. the cost diference can be put towards an x1950pro insteed of the 7600GT http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16814127271 and if you're evil enough, then order a second one of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820220088 but have it sent to a friends address that way you can get the rebate twice or if you're lazy http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820145167 promos, but the other set would probably be promos anyway so that' would get you e4300 cheap motherboard(you could still probably use it to OC the CPU to around 2.7GHz if that's you're thing though) decent harddrive 2GB RAM in dual channel x1950pro also, consider this case on sale for 1/3rd the price...
yea that case should be out of the question, if your gonna go gaming I'd go with xelink's idea of getting the ATI video card if your going to game atleast =)
onyl if he's abel to get a CPU/motherboard combo for around that price, otehrwise it's out of budget and the 7600GT would in fact be the next best thing for the $$$ here's a cheaper card, very comparable to the x1950pro http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetai...ductCode=327110
i was not able to find the cpu/mobo combo on the fry's website or at their store. So i have decided to go with the c2d 4300 http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetai...oductCode=80865 ABIT IL9 --- LGA 775 Intel 945P ATX Intel Motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813127015 Corsair XMS2 2GB http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetai...ctCode=85016-18 Thermaltake Armor Jr. Black Mid Tower Case http://shop3.outpost.com/%7BpTX0bTCjXVhVI4...CH:MAIN_RSLT_PG Hard Drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16822148111 CD/DVD Drive http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16827152076 eVGA e-GeForce 7900 GS PCI Express 256MB GDDR3 Video Card http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetai...ductCode=322824 OCZ OCZ600GXSSLI GameXStream 600W PSU http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetai...ductCode=316504 so what do you guys think? Changed the video card back to ATI 1900 GT http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetai...ductCode=327110
x1900GT is more powerful than a 7900GS and it overclocks better too if that's your thing. http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetai...ductCode=327110 and Fry's has those sales in store every week ro so. I'm referring to the southern california area though, but I'm sure that they have similar sales elsewhere, check your newspaper.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16813128017 That mobo is better than yours, P965>P945/915. Merged Post: Also, go with 1gb of ram to bring the price down. I recommend: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820227116
changed RAM to OCZ 1GB, i will try and look in the ads for the frys magazine but i have a feeling im not going to fnd anything from the one out here in Chicago
