Well I mean this, lets say I bid on something for 200, but seven days later no one bids. The auction will be over, and he could reserve the right not to sell. So for one week my creds were tied to one auction, and I didnt even get it

I took a quick browse from the many responses that other members have posted, there are some key ideas that you mentioned that I feel should be implimented; and I feel others will only create more problems.

For starters, retracting bids isn't allowed from what I know; once you make a bid in the auction room, it stays until the auction is over (After 7 days from the date the topic is created) or unless somebody else overbids you (In that case, the person who overbids you is liable to pay if he/she wins the auction.)

As for the following rule, "I MAY NOT SELL IF I DO NOT FIND THE PRICE SUITABLE" Although I may agree with it, if it became implimented, the Auction room may experience a "depression" since many members (especially a majority of the designers at Gamerenders) will feel that they are taking a risk by making a topic in the Auction Room. I see why you would like that rule implimented as a buyer, but as a seller I know that many artists would disregard this rule; we need to promote activity in the Auction Room, not de-promote it.

As for the private offers, I totally agree with that to be changed; I absolutely hate when I am notified that there has been a "Private BIN offer" when I see completely no posts in the topic; all bids should take place in the topic. If it is a BIN offer, I feel it should be posted in the topic as well to prevent scams, considering most of the times these "private offers" are fake. If the rule I mentioned above is implimented, this rule will have to be implimented as well - they go hand in hand with each other.

Now to answer questions, or raise concerns from what other members have stated:
@ SM Infinity - If a maximum start price was implimented on a tag; that would avoid the purpose of an auction room. This is in response to the following quote:
@ Rummage - That's what an auction is, unless one of the rules that Master suggested becomes implimented (Regarding that the auction creator must sell to the highest bid after the 7 days); that's how it will be, and always will be.. that's what makes the Auction Room different from Offers/Requests.

On a side note, might I add that Gamerenders is not the same as Ebay. They are two different sites and they both operate VERY differently; you cannot just compare the two without looking at other variables.
Furthurmore, for all the members that feel that "if the member that creates a topic in the auction room has the rights not to sell that members should be the right to retract their bid" they should know that it's a rule of thumb that it is ALWAYS buyer beware when purchasing something - that's life.

Well, a suggestion is a suggestion, it can be altered. I just wanted to set the "grounds" for modifying the auction room. Some things I said, i know, may not work at all. And I did find a key point through reading all this; and that is, that ok, we should be able to set RESERVES.. But still, no retracting bids, and lets have a set time it MUST end in.. (just like ebay and any other real auction place)

Both of those two rules have already been implimented. Once you make a bid, you are not allowed to retract it and the auction must close 7 days after the topic is posted.

i love how all the "---" people are complainin that there tags would sell for 200 creds.....

all i have to say is if your sh*t was actually "---" then it would still sell at a decent price

Read my post at the top of this page; it specifies which rules are currently being implimented and the ones that haven't. I'll save you time and tell you the 2 rules that you have suggested that have not been implimented yet are:
    1) The rule which states people who create an auction cannot state "I MAY NOT SELL IF I DO NOT FIND THE PRICE SUITABLE."
    2) Private offers should no longer be allowed on Gamerenders - considering most of the times these "private offers" are fake. (For other reasons as well, I specified the description(s) more thoroughly in my other post, furthumore, I have given my point of view on the subject.)

I think GR should make a big ass rules list which has all the rules updated in it .. so new members need to only go to '1' forum to get all the rules .. instead of going to multiple topics on multiple forums .. and its because of that some members miss out on some rules .. and result in getting fined .. or warned ..

Would clean it up a hell of alot ..

See that button in the navigation that says 'Rules' on it? Try clicking it, maybe it has rules in it...I don't know.

    Is this guy serious?

Can a mod be made for this? As in, like NSL's battle mod, maybe GR could have a auction/selling/buying mod whatsoever. Under auction, one would have to put in his creds when he bids. So, no creds, no bidding. But if someone else ups the bid, the first person automatically is returned the creds and a PM or something.

Anw, i agree with Master's suggestion full force. Its more realistic and makes more sense than ----heads.

There is a vB mod for it, not sure about IPB. I doubt GR would be interested in paying for a custom one, they aren't hot on customer satisfaction <_<

    That made me laugh.

So you guys really think we're just here to make your stay miserable? I appreciate that, we all put hard work in to keep this forum operating as smoothly as possible and that's what we get in return?

The money all comes down to Shaggy, not the rest of us. If he's interested in purchasing something to add on to the forum, he'd ask us if it was worth it. Outside of that, we have no say in it.

A mod would be a waste of money - it's a costly solution to a minor problem. I know that if I was the owner of the site, I wouldn't spend so much money on a mod such as the one suggested above, although getting an estimate would be good to know, as I am not an expert on it.
I feel all the staff need to do regarding this problem is to ensure that the rule which states that, "you must have credits on hand when bidding on an auction room" (which is already in place) is enforced and that warnings are given out to members who do not abide by this rule.
