I turn on my computer this morning and everything seems fine except nothing comes on the moniter. Now the moniter seems fine and everything is on and connecte. However I found whenever I tried to open the cd tray nothing happened. I dont know whats wrong with, it but all it does is come on and then nothing happens and nothing wants to work.

My dad built it a couple of years ago, maybe 4. Only major problem ive had like this was when the power pack exploded(scared the ---- out of me). Monitor is newer than the computer.

If it's somthing internal I'll let my dad worry about it. My major concern is if it might be a virus.

no a virus couldn't do that. Its internal cuz a virus cant stop a drive from opening ;)

THANK YOU, in that case I'm going to leave it to my dad. My dad gets real serious about me dl stuff and recently I dl a patch for BF2 which I could never get to work or anything and was wondering if maybe it was a virus(I know it might seem unlikely but I become paranoid real easy).

Yeah a Virus can do that... But I don't think its a virus..

I think your PSU(Power Supply, Or Powerpack as you said before) has died..

Usually PSU's blow straight up, but sometimes they only go half way.. Taking half of the connectors with it.. you could be lucky and only have the one connected to your optical drive go.. swap out the PSU, and put in a different one.. might help :)

    not a virus m8
its probably some internal problem, i would tell you to go to BIOS and check if your motherboard detects the monitor and cd drives..
but with no monitor.. that is a bit hard..

try connecting your dads monitor [if hes got one] and checking if it works

(even thou at this point i doubt it is the monitor.)

    btw

    i lol'd
    ;D

well it could, but that would either be a virus which infects BIOS, and those are few and far between.

if the "power pack" exploded, then that could explain why, if the power supply has damage to it, it wouldn't have been delviering steady voltage to the system and all this time, your mainboard and addon cards would have been taking damage from eitehr excess heat and/or overvoltage
