Hello, I am thinking about getting a laptop to use. My family currently only has one computer, and it gets hogged up alot. We have a 4 year old HP Pavilion 734n, but something is wrong with the hardware it it ceases to work some of the time. I plan on repairing it and selling it to get money for what I am asking your help for. I plan to use the laptop for light gaming, maybe games such as Half-Life 2, Swat 4, Counter Strike Source, and games like those. I prefer 15.4", but if you find a good one at 17", I'll take a peek at it. Anyways, my budget is $1000 USD. I prefer to be a commercial laptop since my family doesn't trust custom builders because of a certain incident a few years ago.
Check this one out, it might be $49 over the limit but its worth it. http://www.alienware.com/product_detail_pa...ode=SKU-DEFAULT

Maybe so, but I am not getting a Dell; the size and set up I want if not avaliable on their site anyways. Anyways, something along the lines of this is what I was thinking: 1. AMD MK-36 Processor (2ghz, 512kb Cache) 2. 1 Gigabyte RAM (two 512 sticks) 3. 15.4 Inch Screen 4. 80 Gigabyte hard drive 5. DVD Drive + DVD and CD burner 6. a Nvidia 7200 256 MB Video Card
ok 1st you knock off DELL as a resource so that leaves you with the OVER but COOL pricy SONY. HP's are ok and nice and neat but sometimes lack items Alien ware which i have no idea how it functions but i know it has a very neat skin and office space software Compaq which is meh....
