I was writing a tutorial, and throughout most of the time, photoshop kept freezing, blinking, then when I was finally done, it froze, and closed. Is there some way to fix this?

I would think that the size of the tutorial was fairly large and was taking up a lot of resourses and is probably causing the freezing and blinking and such. You could try closing other programs that are not in use at the moment (browsers, media players, etc.) or try upgrading your ram.

Also, I think there is an option in PS to raise the amount of virtual memory it uses but i'm not sure where.

Virtual memory can be found at:

Windows button + Pause Break > Advanced tab > Settings (under performance) > Advanced > Change and set the initial size to the same as the maximum size ;) then click set ok ok ok ok ok etc.

    Also upgrade your RAM
